Jigokuraku? Why dont people ever bother posting the sales for it...it sells well enough to appear in the rankings and Jump+ is accepted here.

Good to see World Trigger killing it.

Jujutsu Kaisen ranked #2 for best selling (volume 1) sales for second half of 2018

I really hope Jujutsu gets a decent studio when it gets an anime, I really like how the powers work but the choreography feels a bit odd at times. I'd like to see a well adapted battle.

Why does Deku look like he has a gun pointed to his head?
That's from a group cover way back when BNHA was a newbie, chapters weren't even ranked yet if I remember correctly.

Yeah, a number of them were from that cover.

Watch it be Pierrot pickup Jujutsu.

So glad that Kimetsu escaped the fangs of Pierrot.

TSS....eh. I think supercow explained the Chapter 2 well. Great art (and an action Matrix like bit), but this chapter was just another showcase of how our bishonen MC is so edgy, cool, badass and OP. Meh. Move the story along or die by getting axed. The manga is called Tokyo Shinobi Squad, introduce the members instead of pushing a random filler for no reason.

I will admit that Samurai 8 became *slightly* more interesting for me, but it is still very weak, especially for a story from a veteran mangaka. Hey, at least it is better than some other questionable newbies, so there is that. *sob*.
I do not agree with that at all. You want to do a Stealth Symphony?

The first colour page Tokyo Shinobi Squad introduces 4 characters. Three characters were immediately shown in the first chapter. Well even four, if you take the justin bieber incident page.

Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Toriko, Jujutsu Kaisen, Muhyo to Roujie, D. Gray-man, Shaman King, Mx0,... a lot of important characters were introduced quite late for the continuation of the manga.

When the art is fine, it's more or less story, setting and pace which decides whether or not a manga survives. Chapters 3-9 are very important chapters.
E.g. Double Arts; it had a great start but unlike the majority I felt that it would fail because the pace was too freaking slow.

Tokyo Shinobi Squad's biggest plus for me is that Jin Narumi (main character) and En-San (supporting character) were immediately introduced with a certain story/mistery surrounding En. As a reader everything is given to me from En's point of view because the first two chapters are mostly about the character Jin, but it's En's story that interests me a lot. I kind of expect a change of point of view later.

TSQ's upcoming chapters will be important.

Really hate all these people constantly screaming “ITS ONLY 5 CHAPTERS! FOR GODS SAKES YOU HATERS. GIVE IT MORE TIME AND STOP JUDGING A MANGA ON JUST 5 CHAPTERS! ALL SHONEN JUMP MANGA AREN'T GREAT IN THE 1ST 5 CHAPTERS!”, whenever you give the slight bit of criticism on Samurai 8.

And the people who claim that the manga is being critically acclaimed and well received whenever you claim that the reception has been mixed.

I don’t even dislike the manga. I think alright, and WANT it to get better. But the amount of obnoxious fans who think the manga is damn near perfect, and that we need to wait 50 chapters before forming an opinion on it is almost making me want the manga to get axed out of spite.

It’s like they don’t realize that the vast majority of “haters” who are still giving it a chance 5 chapters in a Naruto/Jump fans who were anticipating Kishimoto’s return; Most if them likely wanting to like it.

Not to mention, Chapter 6 will mark the end of Volume 1, literally the first real impression of the manga. If it's not engaging me, what reason do I have for getting the later volumes?

I like how you made this comment on a thread where the majority criticize the manga that you mention

Just saw that on Jump+ Popular 5 section are World's End Harem (what a surprise), Dorei Yuugi (underrated manga), Bokuyaku Battery, Mato Seihei no Slave and It's Time for Interrogation, Princess! (slightly surprised, huge fan of this one though it's extremely repetitve even as a gag).

I think any author who starts a manga in the same way as samurai 8 would have big problems. There's the last saiyuuki to prove it.

The Last Saiyuuki is a poor example considering the main problem this manga has (slow pace) hasn't been fixed even after 14 chapters. Which is a shame for something that has a really nice art, but one of the more deserved bad receptions in Jump tbh.

Maybe they really are planning to release the first two volumes at the same time.

the samurai 8 rhythm is also not the best, except that art also does not help at all.
And also, the change of focus that happened in chapters 2 and 3. Despite saiyuki's criticism, I still consider it better than the samurai 8.

Worth noting I think that one of the major complaints about Samurai 8 (Hachimaru having the personality of a wet towel) goes back to Kishimoto himself. If I had to get slightly hypothetical, I suspect that Hachimaru is a fictionlization of Kishi's own son, based on comments from before the series launched as well as the writing itself. It would explain a bunch of things...though I don't really consider it an excuse.

the hinata, for example, is it not inspired by the wife of the kishimoto?
So much so that in The Last- Naruto movie the hinata gives a naruto scarf, which is based on a scarf that the kishimoto's wife gave him.
