Yes, you very much do assume. It was never stated the princess is required for the bone sword. In fact, we've seen two Samurai already that didn't even have princesses that were fully capable of using their bone swords.
The true Samurai thing is alluding to something else.
Indeed, on a reread it doesn't seem to be about the sword specifically. Though while I might have been snarky about it, that visual metaphor being used in the middle of that long infodump about the importance of princesses can easily bring that to mind.
Again, the text-heavy presentation and mass of rather arbitrary rules don't do the series any favors in terms of readability.
Obviously you are wrong. Considering you mentioned "all male?" contradicts fully with your statement, as that suggest females don't need a princess. And Daruma already hinted it: he doesn't have a conviction yet and is still worried for his father. Whatever his conviction is to protect the princess, make her Queen of the Universe or something else, is still yet to be seen.
Mate, that's one hell of an opening sentence, haha.
In any case, it was directly stated that princesses are literally girls trained for that position that at some point received a special artifact. At this point there is no reason to assume that Samurai are not all-male, requiring a female princess to unlock their full potential. Though I would be glad to be proven wrong by future chapters or, alternatively, have the princesses at least take an active role in some way, instead of just being protected like the dialogue suggested so far.
Sadly Kishi's track record in that regard hasn't exactly been ideal.
Your defensiveness about a rather tame opinion has taken me a bit aback, tbh. I rarely visit MH these days, much less post here, and mostly wanted to check out data and evaluation on recent series, and on that chance also put out my view on the current batch.
I don't see why being critical of a series here is reason for that much salt. Doing so in the S8-thread would most likely upset the fans much more.
To bring some perspective, I do like Kishimoto a lot (for all my frustrations with late Naruto and questionable character priorities, I love the series as a whole in hindsight) and was genuinely excited that he could use his experience and reputation to create a series with a carefully built world, without the need to rush and create hype from ch1.
But, for me, this ain't it, at least not at this point (reasons were already stated). I will still continue to casually follow it and maybe the frontloaded-lore will pay off in the long con and they will be able to create a manga that only its unique situation allows.
If not then... I guess I will drop it once the ironic reading stops being funny enough.
In any case, that's it from me about S8. Felt like I should at least give a response one the rare occasion of posting here again.
