There's a big difference between working in something you are confident/love and working in something you need help to write because you don't know nothing about the topic( and it isn't even your idea).
In fact , it says good at his storytelling abilities of Tsukuda(and Tosh in a lesser way), that in that situation like this they made a good series until the Azami's arc.

Idk why we need to argue something that is common sense like "people who like what they're doing, do his work better".
I dont deny that but how does that even excuse the poor character writing? Its the food theme he needed assistance on but the character he wrote and the ones that were sidelined or ruined are all the duos fault.

The Azami arc up to the final volume is more than half the series lol. Why are you cherry picking that?

Possibly unpopular opinion I feel like sharing, I think none of the Big 3 or their ilk could survive in the modern Jump environment. The meta has shifted much too drastically.

Because the point was about "is surprising that the series maintain the good quality that long in retrospective seeing this interview" which it follow the subject of the debate.
Idk , my initial post didn't even say that Tsukuda is a good writer so I find funny that you try to change the discussion to "Tsukuda is a bad writer" while you say to others that don't cherrypick lol.

I mean that's what its suppose to be, the inspiration for the future of shonen. It counts for everything, music , art ect.

They end up being a pioneer, it gonna happen extacly 10 years later when TPN will be called "generic" :)

That's is the trope of "Seinfield is unfunny".

Not disagreeing completely but that's like saying 90s or early 2000s music won't do well in today's music environment.

Many have called Naruto and One Piece their inspirations. Some stated how they looked up and tried to match the "cool" nature of Bleach.
It's just important to keep in mind that the popular things today were inspired by those past things. Meaning without those influences, the things you like today or are the norm today in the industry might not have existed. It would've been a different era in the manga industry if those popular titles didn't exist.

Here's another question.
If One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Death Note didn't exist from the previous generation, how do you think would it have affected the popularity of manga around the world? :mono

In an alternate timeline, FMA would be in a weekly magazine and basically be the Dragon Ball of the previous era. It might also surpass DB's sales as well. Also, Arakawa's massive success would pave the way for a boom in female mangakas writing pure, battle shonen.

Bleach would struggle imo but I think OP will adapt fine same with Naruto but to a lesser extent.

You were excusing him a lot. You may have not said but you did imply it.

I mean, technically the one that would be the most unable to get off the ground in the current meta is Reborn, but saying the Big 3 is a lot more striking.

One Piece is still the king of shonen, Naruto ended only 5 years ago and its name alone has carried Boruto to its relative success manga and anime wise. Even Bleach was legitimately good and entertaining for many years. All 3 would be megahits in todays era. Lets not pretend like Fujobait volley and MHA are revolutionary mangas that put the big 3 to shame or anything

Confirmation bias. You're using the fact that these series were able to become hits in a very different environment as evidence of their ability to somehow work in the current one.

Sorry but BLack Clover is the king of shonen, this has been proven countless times both in comparison to its predecessors but also in comparison to its contemporaries. Its the closest thing to a level up of the previous king, Naruto, that we can ever get.

For your other point, One Piece can't even revolutionize a brown paper bag so saying that it revolutionized manga and those others didn't is just plain baffling, stunning, shocking, and a bona fide lie.

Lastly if you're looking for something that has revolutionized manga, then going for a traditional and conventional action manga than shonen jump is probably not the most optimal place to search. HeroAca follows all superhero comic and hot blooded boys action trends to a tee, Haikyuu!! follows every standard sports series trend, which its difficult or impossible to actually do something more there beyond focusing more on life stuff and less on sports club dynamics and numerous other stories are just the same plots just with different Character Models, Environmental Artists, and Writing Prompt Randomizers used for arcs.

Or the fact that in 2019 OP still utterly shits on every other "new age" shonen.

Naruto didn't end 20 years ago, it ended just 5 years ago and was selling very well even at the end (FAR above anything except OP and HxH in current wsj)

Bleach even at its cratering sales outsold most of the magazine and it ended only 3 years ago.

Lets not pretend like MHA, JJK, BC, etc are reinventing shonen at all.

Saying the big 3 wouldn't make it in current jump is as ludicrous as saying db , slam dunk and yyh wouldn't have succeeded in the 2000's

Lets not pretend that Bleach and Naruto are well written series, quality wise Haikyu!! beats both
What does writing have to do with success? People read mangas to be entertained and Bleach/Naruto did just that in spades and the sales reflect that. Are you really gonna tell me Bleach/Naruto wouldn't make it in todays era?

Yes, yes we are. Because reader expectations and the meta that series run in is completely different. You seem to be thinking that we're talking about the whole when it comes to these manga, when in reality we're talking about their ability to get off the ground.
