Ehh, no offense but i don't need to read a giant article from 2016 about some writer personal opinion and views about Light and Death Note, i have mine opinions and views and that's it, the point it's you saying that a teenage killing some criminals and after that getting corrupted by the "power of the Death Note" it's a worse and evil person than a genocidal erasing a entire planet full of innocents for egoistical motivations, simple.
This talk reminds me of the endless debates over how justified Captain Sisko from DS9 was when threatening to commit mass genocide by wiping out the atmosphere of an every single planet in a Maquis occupied solar system (even though the Maquis were totally justified) until this dude who betrayed him agreed to come out of hiding.
Some people will refuse to see the negative actions of a character for what it is if they feel attached to them, or are trained to see them as the good guy (which is cool how Deep Space 9 continually played with those expectations of the characters, especially with Gul Dukat who (bar season 7) is probably one of my favorite villains in all of fiction. Such an ahead of its time show, and so ambitious and bold of Pillar and Behr to launch a deconstruction of TNG while it was still on the air.

I don't know how or why this is relevant, mostly felt like shilling DS9.

Ok, i guess i'll proclaim it now: Chainsawman is the fresh juice i needed in all the duds there has been lately. Just a week ago i was complaining about Shonen manga being stale because there is no evolution. Chainsawman might be that. It might be the next step. The panelling, page layout, the action, character archetypes, they all feel so fresh and new. I am excited where this will go.

I happened to read Death Note recently and I think the story wanted me to think that Light was just an upstanding civilian that got corrupted by the notebook, but it never managed to convince me of that.
Light kills a guy basically over the crime of 'being a dick' in Chapter 1, tries to kill L for calling him unjust in Chapter 2 and is already considering killing his family by chapter 3.

But later on when he loses his memory he's a real nice guy? I'm sorry, I just can't buy that. The part where he's all 'I'd never play with a women feelings like that' was particularly eye-rolling. Didn't he have like a dozen girls ready to call when he needed them? He's like a completely different character .

Granted, we don't get to see much of Light before he finds the notebook (nothing, really), but that's the problem here. Something as big as the descent into madness of the main character should definitely have been given more time instead of jumping in the conflict with L right away.

Seems like there's a bonus chapter of Spy x Family we aren't getting next week (at first I thought it was talking about the volume release being Japan only but both promos of the chapter say "Jump+" and schedule says the next chapter is in 2 weeks so rip. Hopefully the series is popular enough for someone to translate it.

I wonder why Manga+ isn't picking it up since it's also one of the most popular series there. They've had no issue with the bonus Spotless Love chapters

It's in the magazine? It's worded kinda weirdly lol. At the start of the chapter it says "Volume 1 on sale July 4! And a special bonus chapter in Shonen Jump Plus Issue 32 (July 8)! (Japan Only!)" and the end "Special bonus chapter in Shonen Jump Plus (July 8)!"

I'm now curious if any other new Jump+ title will achieve what SpyxFamily has achieved in these last 2 months. We need more Jump+ bombs happening.

I hope these 4 new titles get uploaded in Mangaplus. Seems we are getting 3 romcoms and a possible slice of life (the 3rd title).

I say 3rd title has the lowest chance of the 4 due to it being an. adaptation of a novel

I'll go with high on the 1st with a just maybe for the 2nd and 4th

It's so fresh, it doesnt even feel like an manga but more of a comic. Chainsawman/the promised Neverland is gonna shift the next gen alot in something we wont expect in shonen and especially Jump

I guess by shounen you mean battle shounen, because otherwise, I couldn't disagree more if you mean the demography.

I think the 2nd could be a gag manga which is usually rejected on MangaPlus from Jump+. I think 1st and 4th will be it (especially 4th)
