The first point is quite subjective but Jump's policy has always been to throw a lot of stuff at the wall and see what sticks. The editors have said that the hurdle to get into the magazine is much lower than actually staying in the magazine. With regards to being stricter, stuff like Act-age could possibly have been lost if they didn't give them a little rope. Kimetsu is another case of a slow starter that while it was getting results, it slowly gained its fanbase. Nakano has said that there are more series now that take a little while to take off and struggle a bit in the beginning.

These campaigns are they're way of making sure every series that shows potential is given enough exposure and opportunity to take off. Hits don't always just happen, especially now when there are many more choices of entertainment for people. These campaigns are ways for people to at least see these series and try them out.
I know the talk about quality is subjective

& I had a feeling the par for entry is pretty low, I'm saying imo it shouldn't be, this is the biggest manga magazine in the world so you can afford to only publish well-polished work with diverse themes

in regards to being strict, I'm aware we might lose on manga with a slow start like KnY or AA and I'd still take that risk if i was them
under the previous regime huge hits like KnB, AssClass, Hq, BnHA have managed to break through in a super competitive environment and I don't see why a well polished work wouldn't be able to today

in regards to campaigns, i understand this is a business promoting its products, but do they really have to do it in this manner? if you call everything "the next big thing" then nothing is
other magazines (with lower circulation and fewer readers) have generated hits without the need for a new campaign every other week

Let's go through these one by one.

1. Literally no series of the modern era has HAD a high first print run. In an era where crazy "Whoa, I've never seen stuff like this!" reactions isn't a thing, you kinda have to work on building a fandom.

2. As Ice-Emperor pointed out, that's just basic marketing. Working everything under a theme helps also figure out what does/doesn't work, and allows you to plan ahead.

3. By that point Jump's gag manga situation was critical, and I imagine launching David and Japan at the same time was a gimmick intended to cover for Sorachi leaving. Didn't work, but what have you.

4. Again, that's just how planning works. Tough luck on the GFC entrants, but what have you.

5. Again, resoundingly petty point. So what if that's what the ToC is like? The magazine is 75% battle manga already, of course there's going to be overlap.

6. Yui and Taisei have literally nothing in common beyond a split personality gimmick which is handled in very different ways. Poor example.

All in all, your points seem remarkably minor and petty and revolve entirely around trying to poke holes in Nakano's character over small things. Maybe, instead of leveling your bias, you actually consider getting a firmer argument.
1-your opinion
2-what you said doesn't apply to what i complained about, you're just saying buzzwords you don't know what it means
3-your opinion
4-fuck them for wanting the referees to be fair, amirite
5-he shouldn't have said what he can't back
6-their gimmick is their whole sale point and hook, poor counter argument
i have never criticized Nak the hack character, only his work, don't put word in my mouth

That seems like a very short-sighted way of looking at things.

Are you saying that Jump shouldn't take chances and only go at the things which get them the highest profit margin the first? Are you saying that Jump, rather than having a growing set of IPs, should just leap at the first thing that looks appealing? Because, not only is that a very short-sighted perception of things, but it's one that, in an era where innovation isn't really important, could run Jump into the ground.

Also, your holding this over Nakano's head, when the whole matter of series virtually never starting huge came well before he became EIC. World Trigger anyone?

i have written a long reply but then deleted it after realizing you didn't read my first 2 posts and you won't start now, so what's the point

Like didn't they used to cancel stuff before vol 1 even released on occasion? I know you can guess sales somewhat from the pre-orders but still, there's no faith then there's just giving it no chance at all.
is it cruel that i want that back?
if the magazine readers rejected it
why should tanks buyers given the choice to save it?

just axe it and move on, hope the next one be liked by both magazine and tanks buyers

Ignoring your INCREDIBLY condescending response to me...

Because the market doesn't cater to those whims anymore. Young readers are gone. Kochikame is gone. Most of the "pillars" which ran for over a decade are gone (besides One Piece, which has a reduced rate of publication and could very likely end in a few years). If you can't accept things changing, maybe you should go live in the past.

Magico was one heck of a ride. The first half to two-thirds of it were really entertaining and I was loving every moment of it. Towards the end, I felt as though it lost its way a little bit by focusing too much on some of those battles with suddenly introduced characters. You could definitely feel the author put the pedal to the metal plot-wise with the last 10 or so chapters to try to cram in everything that was obviously supposed to be spread out over many more chapters. While that ultimately left the final villain to feel somewhat underwhelming, the epilogue chapter wrapped everything up wonderfully. I'd like the author to come back with something similar.

iShoujo > Magico > Koisome Momiji > Double Arts > Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa > Cross Account > Himedol > Love Rush > Pajama na Kanojo > Anedoki

I've always liked reading them, but I guess I got a bit curious about what makes them work vs fail in WSJ. I was trying to see if I could notice any sort of trends/themes between the ones that last as opposed to the ones that don't.

Definitely Asui Shuuichi.
Will WSJ give him the chance to return? He already was serialized 3 times: Boku no Watashi no Yuusha Gaku, Shinseiki Idol Densetsu and Saiki Kusuo no Sainan. Besides the Ichigo 100 mangaka, I fail to remember any recent examples of 4+ manga serializations in WSJ.

I think we could see him in Jump Square with that cooking manga.

You think the "3 serialization" rule of thumb also applies to authors who had a successful series like Saiki K. as their third try? So Jump wouldn't serialize Horikoshi after My Hero Academia, because that would also be his 4th serialization?

I don't know about Hori, but I don't think Asui is coming back, he's already tipping his toes in SQ waters

one would assume he will announce his new work by the time Saiki s3 starts

Honestly, MHA will last that long it will mean either that Horikoshi will be allowed to return because while Saiki was something valuable for the magazine, MHA is and was a Jump pillar. Or that he will either return as just an author like Kishimoto/move to JSQ where there is less pressure. Guess we'll see.

Refresh my memory.

What # of consecutive canned series was Tabata on before Black Clover?
