Regarding Shuudan, there's something of a stigma regarding "Jump Soccer" series, how the magazine has been trying to launch a new one for deacdes despite it never working. So it's possible the stigma is part of what prevented it from being a hit.

I wonder, what could've saved Higuma and made it a hit? Because I do think Hokami has the talent to become a valuable creator to Jump.
Lol,what is whistle!?

Well, Whistle ended in 2002 (the anime in 2003), so more precisely, 17 years without a popular soccer manga

And even longer without a successful baseball manga if you discount Mr Fullswing (which is really more of a gag manga). Interesting that Jump's sport hits from Slam Dunk onward have been of less immediately "mainstream" sports. Interesting factoid to consider.

Mr. Fullswing ended in 2006, so isn't longer at all, "only" 13 years.

Mentioning Slam Dunk, is funny to realise that it took 12/13 years for Jump to get another popular basket manga...

Any news on Shoseki ?
what do you mean? if you're asking about Dr Stone it's the same as last week
backlog sells but not enough to show up in top 50
it'll probably stay like this until we hear about reprints
you can check the site for yourself
Weird how iShoujo was the only recipient of that treatment to my memory that didn't transfer just to immediately end within 1-3 chapters.
they only did it as a promotional thing for the app, ishojo is an app manga

Also speaking of Dance Club I wonder when we'll get our next semi-hit, I always like seeing these series that last a year before cancellation.
Chainsaw man is my prediction

I don't think Kimetsu no Yaiba is ending. I think it'll continue with a timeskip.
the series have 2 time skips already
the characters are already adults, don't be fooled by the Crocodile art style and character designs

The odds of Chainsaw Man being cancelled a year in are extremely low. Good sales, multiple reprints of each volume, and the simple fact that the magazine will have so many empty spots just from series ending naturally (not to include series getting axed) that there would be zero reasons to cancel something making them money.

And also, Mammon, have you forgotten that Robot x Laserbeam existed for over a year.

I don't like TSS and agree with that post on Higuma so what "invalidates" my post?
Depends on what part you agree with. Do you agree that Higuma had no heart and was the blandest thing in Jump since Red Sprite? If so, that's fine. It's a valid opinion (it was axed after all) but people are obviously going to disagree because everyone likes different things.

The part I was referring to when I made the "invalidated" post was where Patin tried to act superior for apparently being above liking bland manga. They talk about "Jump being better than this", yet say they're a big fan of TSS.

The attitude Patin had in that post was basically putting down newer members' opinions because they haven't been following Jump for as long as they did. Something like that can stifle newer members' discussion because they might feel like their opinion doesn't matter.

Edit: I just want to add that many Jump followers know axed manga that they liked, including people who have been following Jump for years. Many members here, both old and new, gave expressed their disappointment with a manga's cancellation. You're probably no different, and even if you are, you shouldn't act like you're superior for it. You're not.

I agree with the bland part. I forget who said it and don't feel like scrolling but someone said if it didn't have heart it wouldn't be published and I agree with that. The main part I agree is Red Sprite and Higuma were only really popular in the west because they were kinda the "first" of their kind for us (Red Sprite the first battle manga Viz picked up in a while, seen by many as the Bleach replacement as well and Higuma one of the first manga Viz picked up in their new format). I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with liking either since the reason I find them bland is there's nothing having them stand apart from tons of other battle shonens so for one who hasn't read a lot I could see them really being hooked.

Hmm it really depends on what a person consider as a "semi hit", because so far this is what Chainsaw Man can be considered, it's totally safe but the sales are "decent" at the moment, nothing more, what i would consider as a hit is Spy x Family that was able to sell 39k in just 4 days without having any "known" name behind it.

What margin are we talking about here exactly? Because, from where I stand, anything which has sold over 1 million can be considered a hit, and in all likelihood CSM will hit that by Volume 4.

You realize that's because of the printing numbers, right? Both volumes had to have reprints because they went out of stock.

While Chainsawman won’t be cancelled, it’s very possible for it to end before chapter 100 considering Fujimoto and its current pacing. He’s not the kind to fuck around and keep the status quo for more than a few chapters, and he’s already showed that being in Jump hasn’t changed his ways. It’s looking to be a one of the shorter serialisations regardless.

yes, yes

Jump which didn't give its 2 first volume 100k copies will give its 3rd and 4th volumes 500k copies so it can sell 400k each

I hear you loud and clear

I don't count total sales but individual, Hinomaru Zumou could (if not already) achieve this with enough volumes, but you wouldn't consider Zumou as a "hit" right? Chainsaw Man is doing fine and is growing but i wouldn't consider as a hit right now, Jujutsu Kaisen is a good example of "hit", already outsold Dr. Stone in the first 2 volumes.

....I don't even understand what you're talking about. Do the reprint sales just not matter to you? Does anything?

Yes, yes I would consider Hinomaru a hit, just a smaller one than much of the Jump canon. You can't have a run of nearly 30 volumes over five years unless you had some measure of success.
