Come on Japan, do you even like anything at all? at least it was the best first ranking excluding Samurai 8, and talking about it, come on Nakano, give it a cover too instead of just a lead cp -_-

Well, so Hinomaru Zumou ended, great journey, it was a really great manga and i wish the best for Kawada, curious to see what he will do now, i think that Jump will want to keep him around and the next time with a more "mainstream" manga.

Poor Beast Children, it got even worse than Saiyuki? Jesus...
That's what I said before, it's no use having a promising manga if it does not pick up in the first chapter.
the Japanese readers are not like us, they are much more demanding.

anything Murata touches turn into gold
this leaves me with mixed emotions

this oneshot have a very interesting premise, (This world is split into two very different kingdoms: the magic kingdom and the science nation. They have gone to war more than once in the past, but those days are long behind them. Nowadays they maintain peaceful relations, each state occupying themselves with developing their unique culture. Once every three years they hold an international mixed martial arts competition. In what is essentially a huge festival, the best fighters of the two nations competes in a grand sparring match for glory and bragging rights. ) so it's nice to see it get more exposure

if the oneshot get good reception, it can't be turned into a series duo to Murata working on OPM
so we will either
1-wait until OPM is over, which is very far away
2-turn into a series with a different artist
3-not get turn into a series at all

Image of the cover.

The issue is that a lot of the readers here are veterans who are used to comparatively slower paced manga. Most of the modern audience in Japan however has a shorter attention span (blame the internet) and thus has a higher demand for faster paced works.

Damn, first time I was wrong with the first ranking. Well, it was REALLY close to middle ranking, anyway.

So Shinobi Squad is also struggling but it could have more chances of surviving than Children and Taisei.

Jujutsu in the top looks nice and it´s sad to see Zumou end but it had a great run, hope it gets a kinda-epilogue in Giga or Jump+
It's difficult to know the situation of Tokyo Shinobi Squad, but it doesn't seem good.

Double Taisei and Beast Children also appear just above Kamio Yui in their first ranking, but both have fallen in the next.

Yes.

The fact that Boichi was working on two series at the same time is crazy.
Well, then maybe OPM fans should start worry a little

Or the original author just draw the manga, i actually dig his art but yeah, i know that for Shonen Jump "standards" that would look "ugly"...

What's your issue with the standards of Jump readers? From where I'm standing the art genuinely looks pretty weak.

Honestly, I think readers have always expected the first chapter to catch them. I do not think that has changed much.

I don't think the audience has a shorter attention span, but the audience is different now. Now, Weekly Shonen Jump main audience is older than before.

It may surprise you, but children have more tolerance to filler and slow pacing than adults.

Hmm, my comment is very clear, for the current "standards" would be, unfortunately, view as "ugly", and considering everything the art in the one shot is "weak", but the character design and the art itself is charming, some of the fight scenes are really cool, has some good "Dai no Daibouken" e "Beet the Vandel Buster" vibes, he just needs more practice.
