Well mangakas dont get to see their ranking or anything like that. It's up to intuition and tips what the editors tells them, only when their manga is confirmed to end they get to know.
You seriously think that editors don't tell their mangaka the reader survey results? That's pretty much the fundemental basis on which a manga operates in its early stages, especially if you are a newbie. Also: that's kinda their job, if the manga is doing bad, they need to make changes and work with their mangaka, and that mostly works on the basis of reader feedback in form of the surveys, not through "intuition and tips".

Considering Ashihara mentioned before that World Trigger actually had the #1 rank in votes a few times despite not being #1 in the ToC, I'd wager the mangaka know the exact rank of each chapter (or at least will get told the rank by their editor if they want to know).
It was the editor who said it,if I remember well.

Guys, from now on, I'm just going to delete posts that contain outright misinformation. Don't poke fun at users that post it, just use the report feature, please.

I have a hunch issue 38 is going to be the start of a new serialization round. Or issue 38 or issue 39. If later, then issue 38 cover would be for Neverland (but should be for Chainsawman).

I think they will be new manga in issue 38, 39 and 40, after all both sunday and magazine are already debuting their new lots.

MangaPlus also has the ID links feature so we will know if any of the newbies would get cancellation in the next 3 issues and when, since they will reset IDs next Sunday. Just like we knew for Hinomaru Zumou back then.

What's the longest a complete flop in both ranks and sales has survived before? Spring Weapon got enough okay ranks to not be considered a flop but I guess Japan/David maybe could count?

Usually a series making it past ch 20 means it was at least popular enough to survive one round, but Saiyuuki is getting so much extra time without needing to do that, especially for a mangaka without a previous hit. I mean it's nice that the guy's getting enough time to tell a proper full story arc and write a real ending after Mutou Black ending in just 12 chapters but still, it's odd.

I suppose it did get a good first rank even if the rest and the sales have been bad? Series with a good ranking first couple chapters do tend to make it to the 20s often I suppose, so maybe that's why it's still around (could just be pure luck though due to when batches were planned, or editor favouritism like with Spring Weapon).

SWOT lasted 20 chapters.
First rank Bottom 3
Second rank Bottom 3 (Shonen Shikku Ended)
Third rank Bottom 2 (Metallica Metalluca Ended)
Then had 10 Bottom 1 positions since then. Considering it was 2010, I am slightly surprised this wasn't axed with Shikku and Metallica at Chapter 11 lol. I feel bad for Shuiesha having to put up with this disaster for so long.

Light Wing also survived very long with 21 chapters.
First rank Bottom 3
Second rank Bottom 2
Third rank Bottom 3 (because they decided to just axe Psyren and SWOT)
Then it was back to Bottom 2 as Psyren was ending and then another 10 Bottom 1-oners.

What quickly axed series would you guys like to see get some sort of OVA for adapting one or two chapters

Pretty weird to see that Kimetsu has almost 3 volumes worth of chapters back up compared to the usual 2 volumes for the other series.

Assuming you mean series that lasted less than half a year:
* Double Arts: I'm not sure if it would work as it would have to cut several things (unless they only adapt the 1st chapter)
* SWOT: I personally enjoy it a lot and I think that with 2 OVAs it can be adapted
* Sensei no Bulge: same as SWOT
* Kiruko-san: although I like more the idea of adapting the gag chapters, I think adapting serious arches would not be so bad

It isn't, but being placed in the bottom is universally bad. There's zero chance that mangaka don't check their series ToC placements.
this, I remember when Food Wars rankings took a nose dive, Tsukuda went to his twitter to adress it

Part 5's finale is incredible, its the best adaptation from WSJ I've seen.

Kimetsu's BD/DVD are coming out at the end of the month. Any sales prediction? KnB has the highest BD/DVD sales for a jump adaptation which is like 25k sales. You think it'll surpass that? Ufo shows sell well iirc, maybe not as high as 25k but the anime is popular.
I checked on Amazon jp and Rakuten, on Amazon is on 55th and Rakuten is on 5th place. I don't know if that's a good signal compared to the other bd/DVD jump series. You're the experts here, what do you think? By Wednesday we will know the exact numbers if I'm not mistaken.

inb4 vol 17&18 are double releases or back to back (17 is scheduled for October at the moment) to maximise end of Anime hype.

yuuna have quite the gap as well iirc, though maybe it had caught up ish since unlike KNY yuuna havr been consistent with a Volume every other month recently

But can they do that? If I'm not wrong, it's volume 17 AND a special volume with Gotouge's previous works.
