"Gag manga fail" lol Again, only 2 failures since Saiki and Gintama ended, why you keep with this narrative that readers don't want or are not invested in the genre? you have zero proof of that, the only thing is happening is that Jump don't have a new one yet when AGAIN, literally every magazine in Japan have gag/comedy mangas being published! You keep talking as if you're speaking for Japan.

Again, Youtube has nothing to do with Jump not having a popular gag manga in the moment when you have plenty of gag/comedy mangas out there being popular, you also don't have any proof of the connection between YT and not having a gag manga being popular.

Japan and David didn't make success simply because it didn't connected with the readers, simply as that, like any other manga, it doesn't matter if SJ doesn't have a gag manga at the moment, things are not going to be a success just because you have the space for it.

Your entire comment is just you projecting your own narrative as a fact without any actual proof, in the same way you did with the "Samurai 8 is a failure" or saying stuff like To Love-ru was popular because it was the "beginning of the internet in Japan". Stating that "i talked to people, even japanese ones" "i made my observations based in blah blah blah", what is this supposed to prove? that you know what Japan wants because you talked with 2 or 3 people or made your own observations and conclusions about it?

Please, the difference between your argumment and my is that you make pretensious claims about the industry and japanese readers as if you're a expert while i just know that it's a matter of time until the next popular gag manga appears because i've been following this magazine and the industry for 9 years, enough time to understand that everything is a matter of time and the next one will always appear sooner or later.
I want to ask you, how many of those "other magazines" have gag manga in them which actually sell? And how many of those are just around because the magazine has nothing better to run?

Tell me. Tell me what those successful gag manga are. Not comedy manga (Golden Kamuy, Grand Blue), 4-Koma (Pop Team Epic) or some odd internet curiosity (Gokushufudo ). Name me a purely gag driven manga which is selling.

Again, if the readership really hungered for more gag manga, David would've done better than fishsticks. It's simply business logic.

Your entire arguments against me are built out of blind faith over a lack of analysis, combined with a hatred towards me which at this point comes off as irrational. Honestly, if you have such a problem with my character, fight me in the PM's, I don't really wanna spoil the thread by turning it into more bickering surrounding me.

However, at the same time, it should also be considered that a lot of us barely pay attention to other magazines outside of Jump.

For all I know there could be some huge gag series in other magazines, and it may just be Jump that’s struggling to find a hit
Pop Team Epic is probably the biggest which is published on Takeshobo's Manga Time Win. K-On! (despite how it was adapted the manga is very much a traditional gag series) started a spin-off last year and it's magazine (Manga Time Kirara) has a number of other gag series (Blend-S, Slow Start, Yuyushiki) that were at least popular enough to get anime adaptations. Hinamatsuri is also one I can think of to get an anime series.

That's not really a fair argument. I could say tell me a successful action manga. Not battle shonen, military/political, or series with action that isn't 100% fights and you would have trouble naming any.

Jesus, seriously that you just turned this into "you have something against me, your argument is all build towards hating me and blah blah blah?" when i didn't make a single personal attack or offense?

You do what you do my friend and everybody here knows, you just make claims based in your personal views and conclusions and state as facts without actually having proof about, you just do this, isn't a personal attack, like i said, i've been following this more than enough time to know how it works, sooner or later the next popular gag/comedy manga will appear on Shonen Jump like it always happened during this 50 years of the magazine, and i don't think i need to spoon feed you about popular comedy/gag mangas, just open other magazine besides Shonen Jump and you will find, start with the closest neighbor, Shonen Magazine, where they alone have 4/5 popular comedy/gag mangas.

Hinamatsuri isn't a gag manga.

It is relevant in this case because gag manga is a specific market we're talking about. If it were just "I want a new comedy to succeed Gintama", we wouldn't be having this discussion.

but why do 4Koma not count? They literally are gags told within 4 panels.

4-koma are, from what I've observed at least, purely directed towards Otaku. I can't really think of a successful one which was for a more mainstream audience.

You know that a large part that buys manga are manga otaku, right?

Well, guess this seals the deal for Beast Children, Taisei and TSS, surprised to see Saiyuki managing to be so high, to bad it seems to be late for it

Ouch to that Samurai 8 placement.

Also, damnit, no new series. It's taking its time getting to a new batch.
