i think misinformations should be fought in order for it not to spread
even if we put a user on ignore other people can still see their posts and think their opinions are news
I think you're giving Rain too much credit here. No one is viewing his opinions as credible news. And they are just opinions. He's overzealous with his anti-Sam8 bias, but he's not spreading outright lies. Sam8 IS in the bottom 5 this week. His conclusions are flawed, perhaps, but it's not the same as outright misinformation.

I mean, if I started deleting Rain's opinions, however misguided, I'd have to delete SharkBait's opinions about digital sales being way higher than they are.

See, this becomes a slippy slope, and I'm trying to avoid that. I want everyone to be able to express their opinions without fights breaking out. You can state that someone is wrong, but there's no need to keep going with it after a certain point.

Seriously though. Now that SxF is a confirmed hit,
It’s time we start having a once per month discussion about what studio we want to animate Spy x Family, until it inevitably goes to Pierrot

The moment you start deleting things just because they're a bit off-topic or "factually incorrect" when most of our talks are subjective, that's when the slippery slope began.
The only person who's posts I deleted for being outright factually incorrect was animeexpert, and that was because we had direct proof that what he was saying was wrong. Also, I only delete posts for being off-topic when it's remarks just about users instead of anything to do with the magazine or series within said magazine.

That's not a slippery slope, that's me doing my job. I could be way more strict. There's a lot that I've let slide.

Does Pierrot do non-actiony stuff? I wouldn't be surprised at A1/Cloverworks doing an eventual anime.

SxF getting adapted by studio pierrot would be priceless. I doubt it'll stop the circle jerk for the series.

For those interested here is what each currently serialized author did before their current series. Titles are in Japanese but they'll be a mention of currently ongoing series - 連載 - and one shots - 読切

I found the one for We never learn the most surprising. He went through 10 magazines before being in WSJ (counting Jump + as a mag):
- Comic Blade
- Grand Jump (seinen)
- Grand Jump Premium (seinen)
- Dengeki Daoh
- Jump X (seinen?) <- forgot
- Good Afternoon (seinen)
- Comic Alive
- Jump +
- Giga
- WSJ

It took him almost 10 years to get where he is know.

Tsutsui used to do Steins;Gate material?

Huh, interesting. Would certainly explain that recent Kirisu chapter.

I really appreciate the work you do as a moderator, and I might not have much say here because I'm pretty new, but if I could mention a weird side effect of all the off-topic arguments getting deleted: this thread has been pretty confusing to read for someone that wasn't present for the arguments. The now deleted arguments keep getting referenced by you and other members, sometimes even during on-topic discussion, and there's no visible context for anything that happened. Obviously it'd be preferable if people weren't arguing in the first place, but when evidence of the argument is flat out erased it's also hard to go back and hold anyone accountable for derailing this thread.

I think it's great that you're doing your best to keep everyone on track. But maybe warning or temp-banning repeat offenders (if you even have that ability) would be a more productive course of action than deleting whole conversations, which tends to result in half the thread complaining about the deleted conversations and the other half not even knowing what the deleted coversations are about?

Again, I just got here, and I hope I'm not crossing any bounds with this perspective. Moderating this thread honestly seems pretty stressful, so thanks for all the effort you put into keeping everything civil.

I dunno man, this thread get a lot of casual viewers that don't know regular posters and their m.o.s

I'm not talking about his S8 hate, I'm talking about his friends in the JP community, that's just "My uncle work for Nintendo" level of bullshit

Give it to A-1 Pictures. They did a great job on Kaguya-sama, and Spy x Family gives me similar vibes sometimes.

You mean give it to the staff responsible for Kaguya, because A-1 is mostly made of producers, project managers and so on, while the creative staff is mostly freelancer contracted. If this is true on most studios, with A-1 this is even more.

That's really interesting how he was in many publishers and magazines. I have read some of his manga that are translated and it's kind of amazing how they are different than WNL be it on writing or the art.

About the list, I just wish I could understand most of it to have an idea. XD

Global Moderator Notice:
Guys this is a thread for mostly discussing the ToC of the WSJ. Of course it is totally fine to go slightly off-topic; if it is still related to the Manga of WSJ.
What we don't allow is the constant bickering between some people here as well as the openly aggressive remarks regarding factually wrong information. It is also absolutely uncalled for to openly attack a moderator of this forum.
The next time posts in this thread go against our forum policies, they will be dealt with accordingly.~ Sky

The off-topic discussions are erased, because these shouldn't be part of this topic.

At the end, you don't need to hold anyone accountable, because all the member in that off-topic discussion are accountable at some level.

I mean Rain Spectre commentaries can be annoying, because he tend to write his opinions as facts. However, the need of some people to answer him derail the topic much more.

Agreed and agreed. Literally my views on those matters. Also not a fan of attacking Buranchi like Sky has said. He is doing the best he can, in my opinion.

This looks like he have harder life than Horikoshi
The career of a comic creator can be maddeningly slow and difficult, yeah. Like Horikoshi almost looks like a rapid success in comparison to some (especially the poor souls who never break out, like Kanako Tanaka, who’ve gone around a bunch since 1999, and just can’t get a real hit under their belt)
