Question: I kind of want to confirm for myself that Saiyuki is ending, so is anybody willing to explain what the trick is with the MangaPlus IDs?
Since this has been asked a few times already, I'm gonna write a probably really long post in order to explain this completely, since it's already known.
Okay so, first thing: How does MANGA Plus upload its chapters? Basically each series has an ID, and then every single chapter uploaded in the website has its own ID, which can be found in the URL that appears while you're watching that series/chapter page.
And does this work like this for every single series? Yeah, and most of the times what they do is to reserve some of those ID's in order to upload chapters of a series that is already completed, like for example Bakuman (you can check this by going to Bakuman's page and you'll see that the first chapter starts with the ID 1000001 (
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1000001) and it goes up by 1 every chapter that follows:
So then, does this apply to weekly series? Yeah, but just saving 4 ID's and then they completely change the numbers, relocate the chapters and again save 4 ID's. This is basically how this week is gonna work:
One Piece: 1003654-1003657
The Promised Neverland: 1003658-1003661
Jujutsu Kaisen: 1003662-1003665
My Hero Academia: 1003666-1003669
Kimetsu no Yaiba: 1003670-1003673
Haikyu!!: 1003674-1003677
Black Clover: 1003678-1003681
We Never Learn: 1003682-1003685
Dr. Stone: 1003686-1003689
Act-Age: 1003690-1003693
Chainsaw Man: 1003694-1003697
The Last Saiyuki: 1003698-1003699
Yui Kamio: 1003700-1003703
Samurai 8: 1003704-1003707
Double Taisei: 1003708-1003711
Beast Children: 1003712-1003715
Tokyo Shinobi Squad: 1003716-1003719
Now question, why does Saiyuki only have 2 ID's? Basically because the series is not listed for more chapters after that. What I mean is, MANGA Plus saves 1 ID per Shonen Jump issue the series will appear on, so if they have 4 ID's for Yui Kamio, it means the series has appeared in this week's issue, #36/37, and hence will appear on Issue #38, #39 and #40. After that, it's completely unknown whether the series continues or not, that's not something we can calculate because when they relocate the series, they tend to use random ID's and leave huge spaces between every issue.
So, if any series has less than 4 ID's, does this mean the series is ending? Of course not. Series could be having a
break, hiatus, or any other thing that could mess up its schedule and not appear in some issue. But of course, we can just guess the series its ending due to the overall knowledge we have about it.
And does this mean that Saiyuki could have an schedule like having a break on Issue #38 and #39 and then appear again on #40 and continue its serialization and even become the next One Piece? Yeah, hope should never be lost. But this is not happening, so whatever.
That should be everything. I hope this helped to understand how the whole system works.
