Neither really tickles my fancy, but gun to my head (...), I think I prefer the look of the second series MC more.

The art in Yozakura seems really nice! It's a pity it's a romcom (I don't like the genre).
Mitama seems to have more personality, but let's wait and see.

even from romcom it looks like it will have combat elements, just like jump + sportless love.

he and mitama apparently had the same theme. That is, probably mitama will not be purely comedy.

Ok the episode was good but cmon, if people really fainting for this episode (cuz of the animation). LET ALONE the train arc & red light district Lmfao. This season for kimetsu was pretty much an introduction saga season, if season 2 hits than it must do much better than mha. Also these kind of people dont watch anime at all so ofc.... nonetheless episode 19 was great <3.

Different, really? I thought those were all commonly liked series.
Other manga that would make A-rank or above are Inuyasha, Detective Conan, Blue Exorcist and No. 6.

I tried Kimetsu no Yaiba, but the first chapter was just so very predictable. You are telling us how much you love your family but you're spending the night away from them? Yeah, they're dead. Apart from one, probably, which you will then have to save. Oh look, what a surprise.

And the first three chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen just felt really generic. Like, it's not bad or anything, but it feels like something I've read several times before. Does this change in later chapters?

The way Haikyu introduced Karasuno was so damn smart in hindsight. Establish a rival to-be teammate and end on a hook in the first chapter, then have a few of the team members missing due to drama to create tension and give the introduced characters time to get established. Then the first year practice match to introduce two more, proper practice match for rivals, then the drama with Noya and Asahi, then getting a coach. Instead of just going “here’s 10 characters who are gonna get ignored until it’s their turn in 20 chapters by which time I’ll be cancelled”, it methodically introduces them all in small groups while hinting at what’s to follow, and not starving you of the sports action despite not jumping straight into a match. We basically have 8 well established characters by the 7th chapter with quite a few more to come in the next 10, by which point the series is now grounded and free to do whatever it wants action or story wise really.

Another thing Haikyu did well was that it allowed us to look inside the characters' head so we could understand them and their motivations better. This really helps to create an emotional connection early on (well, it does for me. It's also something you usually see in shonen written by female mangaka).

So, just out of curiosity, is anyone wanting another ecchi series in Jump?

I'm sure the idea is that a one-shot from an unknown wouldn't earn Viz enough traffic to justify spending resources on translating it... but I really appreciate one-shots regardless of the author, so I wish they'd at least test the waters on that front.

Yeah, I love reading those one-shots. It'd be even better if we could vote for them, too.

This is what I loved about Psi Saiki Kusou and Gintama. Both relied on Sarcasm and situational buildup.

I'm glad Kimetsu is doing good with non anime fans.
I like the manga but could not keep watching the anime since I thought producers would fix the slow pacing of initial chapters but they didn't, also I got really annoyed when Zenitsu appeared, since they made him even more obnoxious.

Edit: What scene caused the ruckus last week? Is it the spider arc adaptation?

Red Light District can be better in the anime for sure.

The praise mainly comes off from it being a Ufotable show tho. I do see people enjoying the characters and what not but a lot of the praise is for the animation.

I wonder if we'll be getting an anime of Arata. I think the story would work well on tv.

Also, to the person (forgot the name, sorry) who said they couldn't get into the series because the MC was too obnoxious: he completely stops acting that way after chapter 6, so if that was the only problem, you might want to give it another chance.
