That's news to me.
Anyway, I hope he is sucessful in whatever magazine he is in. I would really like if he tried a 3rd shot in the main magazine after some experience, though
You should read Saotome, it's much better than his previous manga. Really funny, shame that it's behind.

Jump started 11 series this year;

Chainsaw man is safe.
NeO, Higuma and saiyuki have been canceled.
Yui, beast children double taisei and TSS are on the gallows just waiting for the axe.
samurai 8 is a doubt for me.

So all that remains is Yozakura and Mitama, and I hope both are well accepted.
There'll likely also be one last batch of new series around the end of the year.

If we don't get at least one new series between Issues 41 and 52, it'll be the first time that's happened in the magazine's history since the 60's.

Thanks! did Zumo had a decent ending? I was planning to read this one, but I don't want to lose time with a manga that fucks everything up in the end.
I don't even need to ask about Soma though. It was probably a trainwreck in the finale as well
I haven't read the ending yet but for someone who has read a good chunk the manga I would say it is a must read. Even if the ending is rushed for a series, it can always be worthwhile to read the series. I put HZ alongside with Haikyuu/Slam Dunk as the top tier sports series of WSJ

Soma is a joke and without a doubt the worst manga I read in Jump. As for HZ, read the manga, you wont regret it.

I decided to give The Promised Neverland a try after all. It's really good; very engaging, imaginative story and good characters (and not too much horror, thankfully, because that's what held me back before). Love the moral dilemmas, too.

Demon Slayer on the other hand still fails to hold my attention. The story is passable (nothing great, nothing awful), but the MC is just so... bland. Like, I know he's strong, brave, kind-hearted and determined - but that's all I can say about him. That description could apply to any MC in Jump! His sister is even worse, all we know about her is that she used to be really nice. Some of the side characters are somewhat better, but they never stay around for long, and then it's back to Dull and Duller. So yeah, if I still don't care if these people live or die after 60 chapters, it's probably safe to say that my initial judgement was correct and the story isn't for me.

Goddamn your taste is interesting, to say the least.

So, Shonen Jump's Twitter announced that they were localizing Yozakura at 4PM eastern last Thursday.

It's now nearly 8PM eastern on Thursday, and there's no such tweet about Mitama Security.

So it's possible that we, at the very least, won't see Mitama simulpublished on Viz's SJ app. Verdict's still currently out (for now) on whether or not Manga+ will simulpublish, I think?

David and Japan weren't given simulpubs from Viz either. Something tells me that they're not doing gag manga.

Did they mention it in their podcast? They mentioned Yozakura the week before and there was a Reddit thread how them saying "it's not Spy x Family" confirmed they licensed Spy.

Just went and listened, and guess what? It IS being localized after all! (Timestamp 03:10)

The localized name is apparently Mitama Security: Spirit Buster.

Whatever happened to the Kurokuroku and Hime Doll authors? Thought they had potential

Did anyone see this? It seems to be a special manga about Shonen Jump

That's an official insiders guide on Jump written in 2015. It was translated recently by Viz, which is probs why you've been seeing it around.

recently? They did it back in 2015. I have some chapters of it in the Golden Week bonus issue from that year at least

I think that description of Tanjirou is very false and underplaying his strengths as an MC.

Tanjirou has all of the traits of your classic Shonen Jump MC.

However, what makes him stand out is his level of maturity and empathy for others. It’s not common you’ll see an MC who’s willing to emphasize with a species that massacred his entire family.

Tanjirou isn’t so naive that he would ever hesitate to kill a demon. He understands that most demons have done wrong and they NEED to be executed. But at the same time, he still sees the humanity in them and still views them a humans who were just victims of fate(and Muzan)

Kimetsu No Yaiba definitely comes across as a generic series, but the way the series executes it’s atmosphere , its feeling of despair, the way it handles the demons and their backstory is very unique. It stands out a lot among other demon killing manga

Viz know it's a waste of energy, cuz it's an axe fodder genre in wsj🤭

It does?

I mean, if you like the series for its atmosphere, that's fine (one of the things I love most about the Bleach manga is the way Kubo can create tension or awe with a simple drawing). But the MCs from TPN, Seraph of the End, World Trigger, Inuyasha, Blue Exorcist, YYH, Bleach, Shaman King and a ton of other series also empathise with the species they are fighting / that killed their family. Hell, I'd even argue that it's MORE rare to see a shonen MC who DOESN'T do that, because I can't think of any.

Also, explaining the backstory of the enemies just before/after/while they are dying is something Bleach did a lot.
