-"There's no mention of supernatural creatures or powers"
A monk seals a "person" with a bunch of chains tied in the hair and the girl needs to have the hair tied all the time because if not, the other "version" of her will come to life...Yep, no supernatural powers at all, that happens all the time, also, when you have a series by Hiroshi Shiibashi using supernatural powers related to old myths and religion you know that it will have youkais or overall supernatural creatures, you know, it's like 1 + 1 = 2
-"The delinquents aren't shown to be threats..."
It's like you're just ignoring such basic ways of storytelling, of course the first delinquents didn't represent any danger to her, they were used just to make you understand that there are dangerous people trying to find her -_-
-"There was literally nothing but romcom and gag chapters from the start of the manga, nor is there any action scenes or supernatural elements until Chapter 13"
The person literally ignores everything related to action and supernatural that it's in the face of everybody since page 1 of chapter 1, and you actually tried to make fun of Leoat saying that there wasn't a genre shift lol
-"the thing is is that none of what Yui does in its early chapters is tied to the genre shift,"
Again, page 1 of chapter 1 and the violent nature of the action scenes, a girl is sealed by a bunch of monks with supernatural powers, these supernatural elements related to japanese religion and myths which is a obvious "trope" in almost all Shiibashi series, which means that sooner or later he would introduce characters with supernatural powers or related to myths/religion, and of course this brings the dark and violent action that it was already seen on first chapter with dark Yui behavior and also something expected from Shiibashi
Really, is like counting 1 + 1 lol
