The point is the words of an author about the planned lenght of a manga isn't so reliable. It is always possible they decide to continue.

Also, Kishimoto just estimate 10 volumes. It is possible he would extend the lenght if he can.
Right, but the standard assumption is that the author will try to keep the series going for as long as possible until it either gets axed or they decide to conclude it. The author could obviously change their mind while they're in the middle of writing new chapters or thinking up new arcs, but from inception, Kishimoto's original intention was for the series to be about 10 volumes long, but whether or not he changes his mind along the way is up to him. In my opinion, I could see it going longer if the initial reception from the first volume sales are good

2013 is now considered old? Jesus, I must be ancient given I joined here in 2012.
It also says a lot about the ages of the so called "experts" we're arguing with.
''older'' not old, read better bro.

Never knew that they had this goal in mind. Of course its all friendly competition but i can see Jump+ overtaking Jump in like 5-10years. Especially after One Piece ends.

Okay... But what about the landscape of 2013 manga makes you think that Yui Kamui is a better fit there?
Why not suggest like anywhere between the late 80's to mid 90's which is the era I find the series pays the most homage to. Feels like you're just throwing arbitrary dates around as you play pretend expert.

I think he is talking about the old debate "Physical vs Digital".
I don't see books been replaced by digital content in next decade although for mangas the replacement rate can be sharper as I view it. I've never seen so many people saying that they are buying more digital manga now than ever.

As for Jump+ and Jump specifically, Jump+ was created, in my opinion, to have a digital platform, but keep the Shonen Jump brand, the magazine with more or less 20 series who have the fiercest competition in the market and where the elite lives, that's what make the brand legendary. Making a digital Jump with additional mangas wouldn't be compatible with the brand, so they launched a new brand for that.
If they see in 50 years from now (I don't see happening anytime soon) that digital profits are much larger than physical ones and that it doesn't make sense anymore to have a physical magazine I think Jump will just absorb Jump+ and they will be a single thing. There will be no more reason for division.

duhh, read my other comment please. i said in 2013 it may survive cuz there were alot of manga that came and go which yui give a better edge to survive. not that 2013 is an old era that yui fit perfect it, which why i said read my comment better, not in ur own interpretation. so yes it would be a hit for sure in the 80's & 90's. mr-i-like-talk-down-to-people, there are enough of other site's to discuss manga. because you are here longer doesnt mean you have auto-knowledge of every manga in history. certainly not to trash people :neutral

Somehow I feel like the target demographics for Jump+ is overall higher in terms of age when you compare it to what WSJ does. When you look at series on the platform, you can see that a lot of them have quite mature content which WSJ have a lot less and Jump+ typically releases series which I feel wouldn't do that well in the physical magazine itself. I mean most of the series in WSJ tend to be action or adventure series and there just aren't that many series like that on Jump+ lineup.
They can have much broader genres in the lineup, a lot of one shots and series that just don't feel like they belong to the typical series released in Shueisha's magazines.
So dunno if WSJ would just absorb Jump+ given how different both of these are. I could see WSJ moving to digital only releases though.

It is really necessary spoiler for that? It is the name of character. lol
Ania name is the least problematic, I like both ways, "Yor" that's unbearable. XD

Because it is a platform for manga, not shounen manga, got the difference? Absorbing it, Jump as we know now wouldn't exist anymore because it wouldn't make sense like I said before.

what kishi actually said about the length of the series is that he currently planned the story about 10 vol and he said that he originally planned naruto to be 15 vols and he laughed that same thing could happen with s8. he said s8 will not be as long naruto with 72 vol. I think samurai 8 will at least have a minimum of 100 chapter even it doesn't get popular. i think s8 will have 300+ chapters. if it gets somewhat popular then it depends on new ideas kishi gets and he is also interested in sci-fi genre so I didn't think he will limit the story to 100 chapters if he gets new ideas to expand the series and if shonen jump wants the series to run further.

We are a forum with a crowd of Japanese translators and nobody knows what Kishimoto actually said having innumerable versions so far, shame on guys. XD
Where is the damn interview so that we can see what he actually said? :mono

Well, we have to see if it is going to make success, something we are prohibited to comment at the present moment.

Don't remember how much KnB sold but seeing what went on with RxL I think WSJ will give some leeway if the manga doesn't perform in sales but maybe not as much as we're thinking. Well we'll know of the sales after October 4th, so just gotta wait until then.

this interview has taken place before the release of chapter 1 with Kishi having interviews and showing chapter 1 panels.

in very version, it stated he planned for 10 vol but it could change in the future similar to naruto.
