Uh, I'm sure Oda's editor asked him to change stuff (that's his job), but that's not him or Oda telling this. Is another author saying how he felt reading the manga (which he only read 7 volumes, by the way), without any clear information. That comparison makes no sense.
so few people taking kishi interview and saying naruto became what it was because editor but u can't say that to one piece if the same thing said by a mangaka. so in his forum, few people saying kishi editor made naruto what it is now if not it would have been s8 is more credible than a mangaka saying almost same thing about other series.

Adding to my previous post, I think this massive promotion will turn against shueisha and the series as well because it built distrust into the readers like Spy x Family editor commented on his interview. It can become even harder to convince readers.
If Kishimoto said that he expected difficulties at the start of this series Shueisha certainly didn't take it seriously. They should have letf it to grow organically.

Now obviously the Table of Contents has never been an exact placement of the poll results, so why don't the editors artificially bump Samurai 8 up?
Does this mean that they try to keep the general order about the same to correspond with the vote counts even at the expense of promotion?
The TOC isn't a 1:1 with the poll results, but series are generally sorted in terms of whats promotion is most active at the time (MHA suddenly bouncing up as we got closer to the anime season and film, for example), with series perceived as having a poor reception getting put around the bottom due to it being a graveyard of sorts.

Regarding why Jump didn't bump Samurai 8 up, the reason is that such a thing actually ran the risk of it making things worse. Imagine this, if your series is being utterly savaged online, what would putting it in a good spot promotion wise say? It would make it look like your actually trying to shill something in spite of the negative press, which would just intensify the hatedom and, as Hayashi said in interview, worsen editorials reputation as a whole.

Uuuh, no. Look, I'm not saying Kishimoto didn't make Naruto what it is or whatever, that's obviously not true, but comparing actual information and actual changes to an unrelated mangaka saying "but I feel the editor was too influential while reading it" is absurd. There's no need to pick a random interview to have a "gotcha" moment and there's better and more sensible ways to defend Kishi.

Am I bipolar if (as you all know) BNHA manga isn't doing it for me, and as a whole the series is very disappointing now, but I'm hyped for S4 of the anime?
Can't think of any reason why I feel this way :zomg

well i can say same when people using a Kishi interview of 2015 and using it discredit him for s8 failure but when a mangaka of the same industry talked about other manga which is influenced by the editor which also a huge influence on manga industry similar to naruto and called big 3 and it was rivaled naruto. so how does its not fair comparison? when people in fourm, you or me never actually had meetings with editor or made a manga can come to the conclusion of editor role in making what naruto is but a mangaka who created to two mangas (known for golden boy )and been on board meeting with editor cant tell the influnce of an editor in manga which he reads. it simply called being expert at their craft.

Egawa called the people complaining about Yuuna having inappropriate content "brain-dead idiots" and argued Barefoot Gen was the most damaging manga for children. The guy is the last person I'd take manga advice from.

Please ignore the bullshit about Kishimoto not listening to his editor or s8 failing because it doesn't have his original editor for naruto, there is no evidence of this, it's entirely unknown and made up and spread by people who constantly make up and circulate rumors.

KISHIMOTO actually said he was working on Samurai 8 with his original naruto editor before he even told his actual assigned editor about it, I think it was in his newer interview with Togashi. He said he was only working on the series with him at first to avoid someone stealing his ideas.

Don't believe everything said online with authority. That includes this comment, if anyone can't find where Kishimoto said what I'm saying I'll dig it up later.

Kishimoto has also claimed in the interview he did in Da Vinchi that he was resting and not working on a new manga at all during the time that interview took place. The actual timeline of Samurai 8's development is near impossible to deduce given how many of Kishi's comments contradict each other, so it's really not worth trying to use them as evidence for or against if he contributed with Yagahi. All I'm confident on is that Taguchi has minimal at best input, but even that's just me interpreting the interview with him.

If I didn't follow the discussion, I would think you're talking about Mitama. I mean, literally all jokes are about how the character is fearful of ghosts
The main difference is that that's literally Mitama's personality so it makes sense how he acts, in the situations that are central to the manga - as opposed to the "muh random spy ting" and the character instantly has a "AAAA SCARY" meltdown.

Also Mitama has great physical comedy which is the true gold.

I don't think it's bad per se, but dissecting every aspect of the series, the only think I really don't like is the main guy. The spirits are funny, Rena Haze is alright, as was the side character, but the main guy gets on my serves 4 out of 5 times. However, up until this week's chapter, each one was better than the last, I will agree with that wholeheartedly. I think it's still too early to write it off just yet

well people can hate s8 or naruto as a series. i seen people hate s8 without reading it and im ok with that because they hated naruto ending and so they don't trust kishi again but when people read every chapter just to search a single panel to make a big deal about how bad it is and criticize everyone behind. when i first came to his fourm someone defending new jump author for their art because it being their first series but same person when it comes to s8 forgets the artist also new one well. he could have forgot about okubo being new artist because he was so busy hating the series behind maks of im criticizing for what it is.

I honestly could care less about if people like or dislike Samurai 8 because that their opinion. What I take umbrage with is the people denying that it's failed to meet the clear expectations placed on it and claim it's doing just fine. Or the people who blame others for "failing" the series.

For S8 it's exactly going as how kishimoto predicted it to be at first since he did say that introducing something new like Sci fi in the market and lot of new informations might make the readers bored and it might get the unfortunate cancellation but he also said that if he's given enough time he'll make something really wonderful and interesting since what he told regarding the first part is true so I think if he's given the time he wants he might be able to do what he said he could do and that can definitely bring in a lot of readers and boost it's popularity

No one's is saying it's doing fine at . Definitely it's failing because of others, since they don't have any patience which is their fault.

I'm baffled as to how the issue is that readers weren't "patient". If Kishimoto made the early chapters nothing but infodumps with a thin at best story and very few characters, then that's on him for making a story like that, not the readers for not wanting to slog through 200 pages of busywork. It's not like the terminology was the only complaint surrounding the series either, it was merely the most prominent one.

Also, you clearly haven't tried talking to Samurai 8 fans. The amount of times I've seen the argument of "It's doing well for a new series!" and "You can't expect it to do amazing just because of Kishimoto!" is staggering.

Wait, going by Shoseki rankings, KnY volume is selling better than TPN.

Does that mean that KnY is bigger than BnHA now?:derp
