Wow. Kimetsu.
It's actually gonna top TPN and MHA peaks quite easily. We will see about HQ since HQ was a million seller at its peak. If Kimetsu can break 800k before leaving the chart, it can be assumed it's a million seller.

So here's the thing about those trying to put the blame on Kishi or WSJ or both. NO ONE can predict what series will blow and what won't. Case in point is Kimetsu. Pretty sure no one could've predicted it being so popular to a point that it'd top TPN and MHA.
There are many factors that go into a series failure. It's easy to just say WSJ's promotion was over the top and was one of the main reasons. But, a well received series will not suffer negatively from said promotion. It's just a pamphlet. A pamphlet isn't much of deal. It's a piece of paper. People are acting like this was the time Apple put U2's album into their accounts without their permission with no option to remove it.
It's not easy to determine what's the cause of a series failure or success. If it was, WSJ would ONLY have successes.
Just my two cents.

I mean Kimetsu and TPN both had the same aggressive campaign and it worked out for them. I think the problem is that Sam8 wasn't up to snuff and the fact that it takes two volumes to actually get moving hurt it a lot because even the staff realized what a misstep the first volume was that it needed this double bill.
The timing is awful too. Could they have chosen a different release date so it would not coincide with Kimetsu, SxF, and a bunch of other established series (BC, Jujutsu)? I used to think releasing 2 volumes together is a genius move, but now I really doubt it.
RIP Samurai 8 lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hope now kishimoto does what the readers want, simplify the explanations and do same boring shit stuffs like other mangas do to be on top that the Japanese like except for those elite 12k who saw it's potential and wanted something new 😆😂🤣.
You're being sarcastic, but that's exactly what Kishimoto should do.

I know is bait but Samurai 8 isn't something new, same with MHA, BC, Kimetsu and other battle shonen.

I still do not understand.....

Seriously
There is a common playbook among people in power when facing questions they don't want to answer: rinse and repeat "I don't understand" "what are you even talking about" "what does it even mean". :celebrate
Back to Shounen Jump, I recalled Jump also did something similar to Super Push and Awakening, bundling up S8 with CSM, JK and AA. But I couldn't remember what it called.

Yes putting it in a month as stuffed as this was a terrible thing to do because it made the shilling more apparent.

Some numbers:

In the next month, One Piece will sell around 900k copies more,
I would not bet my life on this.

It doesnt do ANYTHING new. But yeah, despite everything it has potential. But Kishi shoot himself in the leg with too much love of sf and textwalls of over complicated worldbuilding. Its like plot is getting somewhere but then. bang. wall of text.

Everything that runs in WSJ has potential, if it didn't have any potential it wouldn't be in the magazine.

What did Last Saiyuuki sell? And some other flops that weren't total disasters, for reference. I'm curious if there's any modern ones that sold about as much as Samurai 8 (I know Yui Kamio's doing about half or so of that first week).

been avoiding S8 talks since it's getting repetitive
so I'll approach from a different angle

do we know what was the first print for each S8 volume?
if they printed 30k then i think this is ok
if they printed 50k then this is underperforming
if they printed 100k then this is a disaster
if they gave it a print as big as Hero/Neverland/Hq/KnY then heads will start flying and hopefully Nak will be among them
Some people mentioned 100k print I believe.

I heard someone said Hungry Marie and Cross Account sold about as much.

listen friend, people are going to have different opinions than you, people are gonna like different things than you
and there's nothing you can do about it
no point in getting too upset about it
no point in lashing out on them

live and let others live

i know this is obvious shit, but your posts read like a whiny teen so i thought i should point that out in case you're not baiting and serious and you just lack of self awareness

One Piece actually has sold 600k copies more than Kimetsu.
known... not actual well actual as in oricon , not the absolute actual which is different and almost never be known by the public, which is also different than, a fact that to some might be obvious no harm in repeating this statement

just saying.

not gonna reveal the implication of that revelation, that part I leave for people to think about

I doubt it
I think it will be closer to Boruto which is definitely bigger than 100k

I heard someone said Hungry Marie and Cross Account sold about as much.
Hungry Marie Vol 1
│*16038 (6)│------│------│------│------┃*,*16,038 (**6)┃2017/07|腹ペコのマリー 1

Cross Account Vol 1
│*13603 (5)│------│------│------│------┃*,*13,603 (***5)┃2017/10|クロスアカウント 1

So Samurai 8 is probably going to top both considering Samurai 8 did 12k in 3 days.

I doubt it
I think it will be closer to Boruto which is definitely bigger than 100k
I wouldn't be surprised. Those pics with S8 volumes being so underselling in bookstores do not make this better too.

someone who is actually thinking perspective , but you just can't resist taking a stab at nak don't you

just a random insert, since mangaka made from print not sales,

Kishi doesn't really lose if this is overprinted maybe in pride or spirit but not gonna go to that here.

We've talk more about Sam8's sales than the fact that Kimetsu v17 is only 10k away from HQ's peak sales which went on to sell 1 million. Really shows where our priorities lie. :teehee

Jujutsu Kaisen has very very very merit. Is probably the veteran manga in current lineup with less promotion-pushing, and is already toe to toe against Black Clover.

Ouch, that Samurai 8 sales is much much much below what I expected. If it was a new series, that would be a pretty good number but a series that had an initial marketing so huge in and outside of WSJ and being from Kishimoto, I expected at least 100k.

And I say that as someone who likes Samurai 8 as a manga.
