There’s so many eligible ones. Perhaps it’s a matter of finding translators or redrawers?
Official don't need redrawers. They get it without any text needing cleared.

?????
From the statements of Hori it seems that the manga will go beyond the 30 volumes he has planned.

My Hero will reach 30 volumes next year, so it goes without saying that at least another two years will last ....
I never said it would end in two years? That's way too soon from any estimation.

Well, this is about what I was thinking we’d see from Samurai 8 (the cursed subject). A steady sales period that shows a stability it was lacking in the first week. Bodes better for it.

also my god the Kimetsu and Stone backlogs just won’t let up

not saying anything other than disregarding stock issues, (which is possible we might be seeing with KNY) a minor drop is usual for the 2nd week of a 3 days FW,

although I do want to add that WoW rise is rare (which another certain series might do this week)

Top five for the 1st chapter (which is the one that counts), 2nd one will be close to the bottom as a with "gag with more than 1 chapter per issue" case. The fact they are giving it a double chapter this early in it's run is a telling sign right there.

I'm kinda banking on it being the next perma-bottom dweller. Not because of lack of popularity, but for tradition.

Well Samurai 8 did 12k and 11k in three days, each vol. respectively. What're the chances each vol. Did 20k in week 2 for a sum of 31-32k per vol.?

I could be way off the mark.

We should wait till Oricon tomorrow, but Vol 1/Vol 2 (67th/70th rank) did less than 15k in these 7 days (50th rank). Probably will do around the same for the first 3 days, so a 24k-25k ish Vol 1 total in 10 days.

Still a far, far, far cry from Robot x Laserbeam numbers in 13 days...

Although I enjoy S8 and want it to do decent, there was a certain popular influencer in the anime community that swore up and down that S8 was gonna be the next pillar of manga/anime(as well as the best manga he’s read in 10 years), and that once it got an anime haters would shut up.

I really want to see his reaction to the first day sales

Please keep anime youtubers out of the topic, especially ones that know nothing about how the magazine works.

Speaking of getting an anime though, I'm curious if Pierrot or whoever's already planning something due it being Kishi or if the vastly underwhelming reception has them staying away. I know some series have a studio start planning an adaptation very early on (25 chapters is enough for 1 cour after all).

If Shueisha hires a studio I really doubt that studio cares how successful the manga is they just want to get paid.

Generally anime studios are the ones that come forward with interest in the manga, Shueisha doesn't make people adapt their series.

I think it’s actually a bit of both, according to the often referenced interview:

“Sometimes, a manga is popular and we want to broaden its appeal by turning it into an anime, so we go around to various companies asking if they will adapt it as a way of promoting the series.”

On a related note, it seems as if we can expect more seasonal adaptations of newer Shonen Jump manga, which is a very good thing in my book.

In other news:
Japan seems to be making a run at the Rugby World Cup and the country is definitely noticing. I have no idea if this will affect Beast Children’s chances in any way whatsoever, but hey. A few of my friends like the manga, so there’s hope(?) for them.

As it was mentioned, Shueisha doesn't hire a studio. The studios contact Shueisha for a manga.

The studio are paid by their sponsors. That's why the sucecess of an anime is based in its merchandise sales.

If I remember correctly it’s actually both.
Sometimes Shuiesha will hire a studio to adapt one of their popular titles.
However there are occasions where the studio reaches out to them about wanting to adapt a series.
Bones contacted them about doing MHA. And Aniplex contacted them about adapting Neverland. And in both cases Shuiesha accepted.

I only vote “Bottom 5” for Mitama because even if it’s a success it could potential end up just being the “back end of the magazine gag manga”
