With those Yaiba numbers, plus the fact that volumes were recently restocked...

750k a month is quite likely. This is insane. It’s blown past the peak of Neverland and MHA.

I wonder what about Yaiba, more specifically the anime, made Japan so crazy for it.
tragedy sells (look at Tokyo Ghoul) and Nezuko.

So guys, what you expecting for the new manga based on "magical fantasy set in a western magic school"
Nothing good honestly. I dont believe this concept is going to work in manga or any other form of fiction in a veeeery long time. HP phenomena was too big

Episode 19. That episode was everywhere the day it was aired, it was the talk of the town for days and got so many people to check the series. KNY was already doing well prior to that, but the sheer epicness of episode 19 was a definite turning point. Since many people were talking about it, many other people checked it out so they came in contact with the quality production of the anime and got hooked in the story too. Reading the manga was a must.

It will probably surpass KNB. Maybe if KNY had started back in winter it would have a peak above 900k this year. But, who knows? The way the series exploded and reprints are going, it might as well cross that before the end of the fiscal year.

The same fujo boost that drove Kuroko, Haikyuu, etc.
Lmao. Reach.

tragedy? I don't think so, people like nezuko but i didn't think she is the hook point to series or the reason why it became popular. im anime only in my opinon this craze was due to aniamtion and music and characters. at least for me the story was usual shonen with simple storytelling and people at early eps even said its just another generic shonen anime but after that zinetsu first fight slowly people came around and by ep 19 everyone liked it and after ep 19 i checked manga it was clear to me that anime made it 100 times better than what shown in manga.

I wonder what about Yaiba, more specifically the anime, made Japan so crazy for it.
It was advertised well & had a good production schedule/adaptation of a good manga. Plus it being animated by Ufotable benefited the series.

Not really. I noticed Kimetsu has always had a pretty big fujo fanbase even before the anime was out. You're going to see it more rampant than ever with the Demon Train arc since the fujo fanbase got larger with that arc in the manga. If anything the fujo boost is highly underestimated whenever someone brings up the topic of how Kimetsu got massively successful

Its a good classical shonen. It doesnt have big flows. Which is very hard to do.

Maybe manga will be similar to Hanako-kun which is quite popular in Japan and it will have anime in 2020.

Fujo are big audience? Correct me if I'm wrong but het stuff like Kaguya or 5Toubun sells much better than BL/yuri stuff.

Correct me if I'm wrong but those series series don't target fujoshi. Actual fujo manga/LN which target fujoshi not sell that great at least when you compare it to WSJ stuff or popular isekai.

This. That specific sort of mostly-female audience, drawn in by pretty boys and unbreakable close bonds of friendship ripe for shipping and the like, is totally rooted in these two series, as far as WSJ goes

That's probably true but it doesn't really explain it blowing past MHA which also has pretty solid fujo following.

Heck, even something like Black Clover probably has good amount of fujos reading it. Or at least I'd assume so because Magna and Luck are like, top tier fujobait.

I wonder what about Ao no Exorcist, more specifically the anime, made Japan so crazy for it.

I wonder what about Kuroko's Basketball, more specifically the anime, made Japan so crazy for it.

I wonder what about Haikyuu, more specifically the anime, made Japan so crazy for it.

....this is all so tiring.

As it was said, fujo fanbase doesn't just buy BL.

In fact, it's pretty possible the fujo fanbase in WSJ or other shonen magazine isn't so interested in more traditional BL (which has a style more similar to shoujo or josei).

Regarding the target, it's true that series don't have as main target fujoshi (although the close relationship between male characters still attract them). However, if the series has a big amount of fujoshi fanbase, it's pretty possible the author will give some fanservice to them.

^ Yeah, I mostly agree but how big part of particual series is fujoshi audience. For example some people call Fire Emblem Fujo Emblem, becouse have big fujo audience but in new game entry Three House what I readed game have 5-4 lesbian romances which at least one character is very important (Edelgard) for plot and 1 gay male romance. So series might have big fujo audience but that audience can be still small compare to others.

I really hope people don't read the manga to see more of Nezuko because
she's only present in like one third of the chapters and receives virtually no developments. I believe it's almost a year since the last time we see her in the manga

Fujo are big audience? Correct me if I'm wrong but het stuff like Kaguya or 5Toubun sells much better than BL/yuri stuff.
Fujo wouldn't be mentioned so much if they only buy explicitly BL stuff. Any series with predominantly male cast (like Kimetsu) can potentially attract huge fujo following. I don't know what percentage of Kimetsu fanbase are fujo, but it's true that all the most popular pairings in this manga are fujo shippings. Tanjirou x Kanao doesn't hold a candle in term of support to Tanjirou x Tomioka, for example. And Zenitsu x Uzui is the most popular ship overall for mysterious reasons.

I told you all Kimetsu would be big with the fujoshi audience.
