Fujo are big audience? Correct me if I'm wrong but het stuff like Kaguya or 5Toubun sells much better than BL/yuri stuff.

^ Yeah, I mostly agree but how big part of particual series is fujoshi audience. For example some people call Fire Emblem Fujo Emblem, becouse have big fujo audience but in new game entry Three House what I readed game have 5-4 lesbian romances which at least one character is very important (Edelgard) for plot and 1 gay male romance. So series might have big fujo audience but that audience can be still small compare to others.
Fire Emblem is a video game. In general, video games usually still have a bigger male audience.

In these cases, it is likely that they fear alienating its male audience. Even so, I heard Fire Emblem Three Houses still have quite close relationships between its pretty boys cast.

If a shonen has a big female audience, it's pretty possible a good amount of that fanbase is fujoshi.

That said, it's pretty unlikely they will show a real romantic relationship between male characters. Although I really doubt the reason for this is a "lack of fujoshi fanbase"

Yeah I heard that, but bother me in this statement fact that if girls buy more stuff, why there significantly more anime which targets boys (mainly waifu stuff). Do you have some interview or raport.

That's het stuff. Wotakoi protagonist is fujoshi but romance is het unless something changed when I read series last time.

It doesn't matter if it has het pairs. Fujoshis care about bishounen boys, and their friendship and partnership between them. Then they imagine their ships. A manga doesn't need a BL couple to have a fujoshi fandom. (Also if I remember correctly, Kimetsu has a 60% female 40% male split in readership).

Nobody has said that girls buy more stuff in general. Animes still has a bigger male audience in general.

However, there are specific mangas or animes who have a bigger female audience (like Kimetsu no Yaiba). In these cases, the female fans are the main buyers.

Not to mention that female audience could also be an important minority in a fandom (the ratio male/female of Black Clover audience is 6/4).

You see, the thing is that something doesn't need explicit BL to attract Fujoshis. You just need pretty boys and homoerotic subtext (real or imaginary).

To give another video game example, as far as I'm aware there isn't any canon gay character in Kingdoms Heart(Haven't played the later games though), yet the fujo crowd is HUGE with that one.

It's no different from how some franchise can be built entirely on shipping without having barely any real relationships. It doesn't matter how much fanservice and wish fulfillment of any kind you put in something, it'll never be more effective than people's own imagination.

I really hope people don't read the manga to see more of Nezuko because
she's only present in like one third of the chapters and receives virtually no developments. I believe it's almost a year since the last time we see her in the manga
It's been almost half a year since we saw Tanjiro do anything too. People who started following the chapters recently probably don't even realise he's the MC.

BL anime/manga's main target audience is fujoshi. That doesn't mean BL is the only genre that targets them. Reverse-harems, male idol dramas, boy version of cute girls doing cute things and hetero romance series like Wotakoi and Nozaki are also targeting them. Aside from stuff that specially targets fujoshi audience, any series that does have prominent male cast and focusing on friendship/rivalry also can/does have fujoshi following. As for how big that audience actually is, maybe not as big as people make out them to be. But undoubtedly they're very vocal and just like otakus they're more likely to spend money on merchandising and Blu-ray/DVD than casual readers. That's why otaku and fujoshi are very important for the anime/manga industry.

Fujoshi audience watch stuff like MHA and Haikyuu!! because they like the story just like others. Because they like the story and characters it's fun to ship them. So they ship the characters they like and create/read doujinshi based on them. It's not the other way around. So if you guys think Kimetsu has more of a fujoshi following than MHA or other series like Black Clover etc., it's probably because, Kimetsu as a whole appeal to them more, it's that simple.

I wonder what about Ao no Exorcist, more specifically the anime, made Japan so crazy for it.

I wonder what about Kuroko's Basketball, more specifically the anime, made Japan so crazy for it.

I wonder what about Haikyuu, more specifically the anime, made Japan so crazy for it.

....this is all so tiring.
...my apologies. ^^’ I was honestly just curious, and I didn’t think fujoshi would be playing such a large role, considering I don’t think Yaiba slammed the gas pedal on its growth until Episode 19.

Then again, being a HeroAca fan and seeing a lot of the sports fanbases, I should’ve known better. I knew fujoshi are passionate, but damn.

All good man. It is really crazy how this blew up because of one episode that came way late into its run. I mean every time I get a KnY related retweet from twitter it'll already have well over 50k likes and retweets hell the first trailer of the movie already has over 200k likes and it has over 3 million views on youtube despite its only being available for viewing in Japan...and it just came out a few days ago. Whatever ufotable did it struck gold.

Any sales chart for CSM? Also how's the gap looking like between Kimetsu & OP in yearly sales if anyone is keeping track.

Wotakoi and Nozaki says hi.

Fujo, and by extension the female audience, have been one of the most lucrative and reliable drivers of anime & merchandise sales especially in the past decade.
Wotakoi is a josei work though.

But, let's not put fujoshi and otaku girls on the same thing, because they aren't. People in the west seems to think that they aren't the same thing but all fujoshi are otaku but not all girl otaku are fujoshi. And yes, the female public is one of the biggest, not only today but since ever, with the last decades being even more evident.

There's a reason for why shoujo and josei exists, why female imprints for Light Novel exists, for why anime adaptations of games, manga and novels exists, etc. It's a big market that here we don't look to much as we on the west focus more on the male side.

It's even more funny because female otaku are pretty much ignored in discussions about jp products in the internet in general as if they don't exist, as the stereotype of otaku is the male NEET and whatsoever, even when they are a big public or at the very least, as bigger as the male one. Hell, in comiket there's a huge number of female otaku and they even have their own day. But most of this is never commented because there's this impression that otaku are like 90% men when the reality couldn't be more untrue. Not only for otaku in general as there's many idol otaku for male and female groups but for anime/manga/LN/gaming otaku.
