Somebody know more about this topic or that false?
Didn't the mod already state that posting random twit like this is off-topic?
Said that, I do find it weird how male-dominant it is in Jump editorial department.

The quote with women don't have the 'heart of the boy' seems older to me because i think i've seen it once
I saw it before... in Bakuman.
Did you read it?

People get bored because we're bombarded literally every single week with prematurely celebration online articles and Twitter posts , half of which are used to shit on One Piece. I went to from being excited to 'meh' to feeling annoyed with all the circlejerking and shitposting. I can't even imagine how bad its will be when the official best seller list is out. Be prepared for "breaking news" with titles like this: "One Piece is officially dethroned by Demon Slayer", "Demon Slayer is the new king of shounen, outselling even One Piece", "Demon Slayer surpasses One Piece as the the best selling manga title", etc. At that point we'll need a fleet of 18-wheelers to carry all the bandwagoners.
Well, if you want to be fair about it, OP fans have plenty of fans with a superiority complex about it, even though I think OP hasn't aged quite well and should have ended a good 5 years ago, as there were plenty of arcs that could've been cut-out completely or downsized. Instead of OP propping up the magazine, I think it's weighing it down simply because the fact it exists, the magazine hasn't had much successes in their young blood. The only notable ones are MHA and KnY, which I think their potential sales are being hindered by OP.

As for the issue of gender ratio in Jump, I do wonder how they'll react if Arakawa drops a series on their laps :hmm

Seeing how all KNY's volumes are above Stone and Stone usually gets a 40k-50k first week, we can expect another huge week for KNY. If this boost keeps up for another week or even two, KNY might sell 2 million more than OP in yearly sales. Also, I don't know if it'll happen since volume sales usually go down or stay stable when the second volume after the anime's end is released, but there's a chance KNY can cross 800k in a month (or 900k, who knows, KNY's popularity right now is crazy).

In WSJ, can you name any female editors? You said magazines, but I'm not concerned about the other magazines, since this topic is about WSJ specifically.
My point has nothing to do which how many female editors there are.

It is at least a little related.

You're right, there is no hard proof that women have no barriers of entry into the role, but there's a difference between "a much lower percentage of women have chosen to have this job than men" and "a woman has never been employed as an editor for Weekly Shonen Jump, once, ever, in its past 50 years of publication". Yeah, there's technically a chance that it's one hell of a coincidence, but does that really make more sense than the hiring staff at the magazine consistently preferring men in that role?

On the other hand, if you could name some female editors at WSJ, I don't think anyone would disagree that it would help your point at least a little.

Last week was 800k, this week might even bigger? Also, maybe another 3 volumes will cross the 800k mark. And maybe 17 will be reaching the 780k.

At this rate, I won't be surprised if half of the volumes reach 1 Million by the end of the calendar year.

BTW, I know that OP dominates the per volume charts, but how likely the KNY volumes released this year also dominates that chart? I know Kingdom and AoT usually are in the Top 10, but I would presume at least 1 or 2 of KNY can surpass those...

It probably won't beat AOT considering no KnY volume has crossed 1m yet, but I think its safe to say that Kimetsu will easily beat Kingdom on the per volume charts

Kimetsu no Yaiba 17: 734,380 (24 days)
Kingdom 55: 739,882 (28 days)

It's probably illegal for them to refuse to accept applications from women just because they're women.
Well, maybe, but even so: they would still apply for a job at Shueisha in general, not specifically at the WSJ editorial. So, they might get hired by Shueisha, but never transferred into the WSJ editorial because of internal company politics.

What the hell does OP's existence have to do with Jump new series not having much success???

You think MHA and Kimetsu would instantly become million+ sellers if OP was suddenly cancelled tomorrow?

Let me put it in plain, simple analogy for you: You have an established brand with their line of products. A new competitor with barely a cent to their name appears, both have similar products and similar quality. Who's going to succeed? The former, of course. All because the customers believe in the bigger name. I don't believe a majority of the 2+ Millions who buy OP actually cares about the quality, they're only buying it because of the name. I won't claim this as definitive evidence, but there is an obvious downward trend for the series. Not a crash landing like SnS, but it's noticeable, at least.

It also boils down to simple economics: OP has such a large stranglehold on the shonen manga market, bordering on monopoly. If that market for OP goes poof, then the market will be ripe for picking for its competitors in the magazine. I won't say that KnY and MHA will become million sellers outright, since they still have other mangas to compete with (AoT and Kingdom come to mind), but I will say this: the manga market will be much more competitive than now.

I mean, how many editors can you name? And can you confirm their gender? Editors are not famous figures as mangaka are, and even with mangaka it can be hard to tell their gender.

So we're pretty much talking over nothing here. There's really no way to know how many female editors Shueisha employs, if any.

Dr. Stone selling less than all Yaiba volumes, i don't know if is funny or tragic kkkkk
Different target demograph, the power of Fujo and ufotable is also strong. So drstone is always meant to sell lesser than your typical battle shonens

This Twitter thread is from a transcription of a 2018 TBS radio interview with several Jump editors. The poster has reliably translated several articles and interviews from Japanese in the past, and he sources the exact interview at the beginning of the thread.

Exact quote since it's split across multiple tweets, emphasis bolded:
"Oonishi says that there probably are women who want to work at Jump but in its 50 years of publication there has never been a female editor. The hosts suggest that it might be good to get a female perspective."

Oonshi, by the way, is the current deputy editor-in-chief, so he's not just some random editor making an inaccurate claim.

Would you say there's some merit to this discussion now?
