I *believe* they'd know how many votes are cast, they just wouldn't see where they're cast. Either that, or they'd see how many people voted, I'm not sure.
You're overcomplicating things Buranchi, this isn't the Shonen Jump table of contents, it don't have a impact on Shonen Jump or any series, is just a fun thing for the users of the forum to vote in their favorite chapters, you're trying to add too many gimmicks into it
I think hiding the votes but not waiting 8 weeks lets both camps be relatively happy though, no? We get surprises since nobody knows what's been voted for (assuming people dont just post what they voted) and we get to still feel as though the ranking is relevant week by week. I feel like the only reason Jump waits 8 weeks is cause theyre collecting physical polls from readers. We don't have that restriction, so our rankings don't need to wait.
That would be a reasonable compromise. But then the issue becomes, what number do we decide on?
If you're talking how many weeks, then do it week by week. Reveal the results for #1 when #2 comes out. I would say when #2 ToC comes out but I'm not sure how many responses we'd get in the 3-4 days between. If you're confident that enough votes cone in in that time then I'd suggest that, if not then just when #2 comes out.
I'm on Buranchi's side about hiding it. Just while the votes come in. Ideally, I'd want votes to be hidden until the next week's release where Buranchi drops the MH ToC, to reveal our weekly rankings for the chapters. Whenever it'd drop would give us a good talking point for what's been popular amongst this thread's users, cause let's be honest nobody is really talking about the poll results right now despite them being visible.
If we go by your logic, then there's no reason to arrange the series come poll #8, since we already know the results prior to that point.
If doing this way, it should be when Manga Plus release the new chapters, because the toc already gets release in the middle of the week, so is a bit short of time to the users, but it would be okay if the results of #52 are release when Manga Plus publish the chapters of #1 for example
Users already cant see the results until they vote....

Why there's no reason? the point is just putting the choices in that order, you realise that when users will go to vote on the chapters of #8 they will care about voting in the chapters not necessarily to see the order of the options right? After 2 months many users will not even remember in what chapters they voted.
I think the main reason Buranchi wants to hide them (and also why I think we should) is so the rankings generate discussion. If the results get posted but everyone has already seen them then nobody's gonna care. But if we hide results then the rankings hypothetically should get people talking.
But that was always the idea. The regular WSJ ToC has nothing to do with it. Brandish accidentally jumped the gun this time because there was a miscommunication, but rest assured that, going forward, polls will be created on Sunday when the new M+ releases.
Then yeah, there's no reason to not do it week by week tbh. Leaving it 8 is just gonna cause less interaction. Also I misconstrued when it would drop too so whoops.
