Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Reading replies to Jump twitter posts and Manga Plus comments about Agravity Boys and Zipman, there's quite the disconnection between the forum's opinion and these places, most of comments are very positive about these two xD

Maybe it's because, you know, the majority of people who'd tweet/comment in the comments section are the people who enjoyed it, not us who discuss every new series by virtue of it being the point of discussion for the thread, and will thus having differing opinions among the group.

Yeah, because we really know how people who dislike something on Twitter and comment sections are not loud at all right? And this isn't my point, i'm talking about the certain disconnection between the mood here and other comment sections, simple.

Chris makes a point of saying that even if one of them become a girl, the gene pool between the 4 of them to sustain humanity, which is true. Yet they get to the planet through a black hole, which rips everything it sucks apart. Why don’t they just go through a wormhole or just get out of cryo-sleep? It strikes me as inconsistent, but perhaps there’s something I’m not getting. XD
Given their demonstrated level of professionalism, I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't tell a black hole from a wormhole.

I mean, the thing came out of nowhere and had rings of light around it. Nothing about this sounds like a black hole.

When you read Agravity boys did you go into it thinking it would be a story that would take it self seriously or did you read it expecting g a stupid wacky comedy that's like Gintama levels if random? I went with the latter
The problem is that wacky comedy and scientific explanations don't really go together. The series spends way too much time on Techno Babble to come across as something purely humoristic.

I’m glad people like it. I honestly thought people would be more negative towards it, so that’s a pleasant surprise. Personally, I hope the manga gets quickly finds a direction it wants to go in and makes its characters more likable (barring Chris, who I think is fine). I can see it getting better, like Miitama did.

And some other titles Gotouge was considering:
Good thing they didn’t go with that third-to-last one, because that would’ve been an awkward initialism in English.

Tha Fantastic Strange Tale of the Demon Slayer sounds like a Light Novel title lol
Demon Hunting God of Fire may have been lil bit spoilerish down the road lol

True, i really expected to read a lot of negative comments there (Mitama suffered for a while, Kamio Yui too) but surprisingly most comments are positive, Zipman too (with one or other comment being "meh")

My thoughts on Agravity Boys are as follows; Chris is an absolute cutie and best boy, don't @ me. As for the rest of it, I made the prediction it would be axed at three volumes before we even really knew what it was about, and as much as I kind of sort of liked it a tiny bit, I still stand by that prediction. But we won't really know until it actually gets going.

For Zipman that's true, but M+ comments on Agravity Boys are about 50/50 for now (with 'contrived', 'confusing' and 'directionless' as the main complaints).

Actually, that's interesting... Gotouge's wording is "I hear these titles were under consideration". That kind of implies that they didn't come up with the title, and that maybe that decision was up to the editorial department instead. Although I suppose it's possible Gotouge is being tongue in cheek or facetious here, or that the translation is off in some way.

Not gonna lie, I like "The Fantastic Strange Tale of the Demon Slayer".

That actually is the most accurate representation of a black hole. It's the same one that was shown in Interstellar.

I wholeheartedly agree, but to be fair, what competition does he have. XD

Just read all the comments again and is hardly 50/50, even the ones pending to being more negative aren't just straight up saying is bad or crap and theres a lot of very positive comments and more funny comments about "trap" and etc.

Just read Agravity Boys, my major concern of it was that the "convincing-your-friend-to-be-a-girl" premise would get old quick especially for a serialization, so I was pleasantly surprised when it was thrown out the window in the end. Although, I now wonder what direction the rest of the story will go, from what we've seen it may potentially be similar to Dr Stone.

I counted 11 negative comments and 14 positive ones, that's about 50/50 to me. Mixed or neutral responses weren't included.

Of course there's some room for interpretation here, but "most of comments are very positive" is definitely not true for this comment section. It's a pretty mixed reception.

11 negative comments? there are like 7 actual negative comments at most, the rest is either positive, some jokes or comments where you can't actually tell if it's supposed to be negative or not like "isn't this basically Dr. Stone?" or "Do men nowadays wear hair clips?", the most negative comment you can find there is "The three the elixir 0/10". Where this is "pretty mixed reception"?

So, now that we have Zipman and Agravity in our hands, do you guys think they'll survive, or no?
