Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Okay, so I’m reading Agravity Boys right now and I have one question: They went through a black hole, right? How in the fuck are they not atomized, or a mess of atoms floating around in space?

I’m still reading it, but that stood out to me.
I think there were old theories that a black hole could act like a wormhole, but I’m no expert. I’ve seen some shows about this idea but for all I know I was being feed a bunch of pseudo science.

But this is fiction so if in their universe, the author wants black holes that act as wormholes or Demi gods that can change your sex then I guess I got to accept it.

Actually, there's a hypothetical possibility of the black hole being a wormhole. It's very unlikely since you have to extend the solutions as far as you can, but it exists.

Today I discovered Jujutsu Kaisen is being licensed in Brazil, and I just realized I don't know what Jujutsu Kaisen means. Same with Kimetsu no Yaiba, since I know Demon Slayer is not a literal translation. Can anyone inform me what these names really mean in english?
Literally translating Kimetsu no Yaiba is something like "Demon Destruction Blade" and Jujutsu Kaisen is "Sorcery Match".

For KnY is blade of the demon destruction and Jjk is sorcery match (well viz didnt touch it fortunately) I don't really like localization names.

I think Jujutsu Kaisen means "Magical Battles" and Kimestu No Yaiba means "Destroyer Blade" or "Blade of Destruction" but I am probably WAAAY off xD

Is it me or did Agravity feel loosely inspired by Dr.Stone? Maybe not. Idk. People been saying Zipman reminded them if MHA and I felt that way about Agravity to Dr.Stone

Being transported to another place by a black hole, its like, one of the oldest concept of sci-fi/space works, so it's strange that this is what stood for Koni of all things in the chapter kkkk

It is one thing to say it at the beginning, then it became clear to some that it would not have been so.

Then I still don't understand what this has to do with the duration of Black Clover, but oh well, mysteries, I guess ....

I still do not understand.

Being realistic is simply looking at the FACTS.

For example, it is a fact that in the history of Jump very few titles have reached 15 years of publication.

And it is always a FACT that these titles made millions of copies sold.

Like how it is a FACT that much shorter manga than Black CLover like Kimetsu or Assasination Classroom have much greater overall sales.
Cut off your Black Clover hate boner. It's not going anywhere. Deal with the fact that it's one of the best manga in the magazine currently

And some other titles Gotouge was considering:
Good thing they didn’t go with that third-to-last one, because that would’ve been an awkward initialism in English.

Well I liked Agravity boys, it was a funny comedy, and besides the weak start of chapter, it still managed to be a interesting first chapter, that did a good work on stabilising the characters and style of comedy of the series. I don't really think, they're gonna focus too much, on the main objective that they stabelished, I also don't care too much about it. [/ISPOILER]I'm more interested in knowing of how the author is gonna develop the romance aspect, if he evens do something with it, and how is gonna be the reaction to it.[/ISPOILER]

I hope this manga ends up being something like Mitama, that start a little slow, but becomes better with every chapter

The guy is a walking pile of insecurities though.

Unless you're talking about coat-brother. He's confident enough, I guess (actually my first impression is that he's an arrogant a***ole, but we haven't been properly introduced yet).
Well, we have been introduced now, and my first impression stands. The guy's a total ****, and startlingly immature for a supposed genius.

Muscle-brother is slightly more sympathetic, but too clueless and impulsive for me to really relate to. And the girl is basically there to be rescued, so no thanks.

So what's the thinking about Aggravity Boys?
Two possibilities:

1) Someone is pulling a giant prank / social experiment on these kids (which could be interesting);
2) humanity is doomed, and rightfully so.

Agravity Boys I hated about as much as I expected, albeit for a different reasons. I thought the thing would become incredibly uncomfortable and gross, and instead we got a bunch of dudebros acting like obnoxious assholes. Gugh...
Yeah, I'm having the same problem as in Zipman here. It's really hard to get invested when all characters are either insufferable or victims.

I agree with everyone that said Agravity Boys was meh.
Any of you guys think that the twist will be that nuclear war never happened and it’s all a social experiment done by whatever their government is to see if human can do-exist in a post-civilization world? Unless extra-dimensional beings just exist in this universe
I really hope so. If not, then the series lost me on its credibility the moment someone decided it was a good idea to send four kids into space on their own.

People usually translate Kimetsu no Yaiba as blade of the demon slayer.

Mate...

Evil Demon, Slayer. As in a Slayer of evil demons
There's no "," in the title, so is basically saying that the Demon Slayer is evil, or at least it could be interpreted like that.

"tale of the demon killer" seems fun but it kinda takes away the dark tones when you read only the name. The rest seems Wani was just picking names randomly lol.

Zipman!: The brothers don’t feel like brothers to me. The characters are too one note at the moment, I find, and they largely act like acquaintances. The hints towards the overarching plot does intrigue me, and the art’s still pretty darn good, so I’ll stick around.

Agravity Boys: It’s not offensively bad, so I apologize for worrying about that before the chapter came out, but it is still bad. Overall, it kind of just fails at being a first chapter, honestly. Doesn’t know what it wants to be, and it doesn’t do any of its aspects (sci-fi or comedy) well. The art can be nice when it wants to be, and Chris is literally the only character I can tolerate. But other than that, it just kind of sucks.

To be fair, I had started reading the chapter and it was one of the first things that happens. Chris makes a point of saying that even if one of them become a girl, the gene pool between the 4 of them would be too small to sustain humanity, which is true. Yet they get to the planet through a black hole, which IRL rips everything it sucks apart. Why don’t they just go through a wormhole or just get out of cryo-sleep? It strikes me as inconsistent, but perhaps there’s something I’m not getting. XD

I think the
JuJutsu Kaisen
chapter got a little bit inspired by all the science talk and introduced us to a new biology topic:
grasshopper anatomy

When you read Agravity boys did you go into it thinking it would be a story that would take it self seriously or did you read it expecting g a stupid wacky comedy that's like Gintama levels if random? I went with the latter
