Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Shoseki rankings for December 8, 2019. Last day of the week, so last day I'll be doing this since the weekly numbers will come out. Kind of curious as to if HeroAca may be pushing through it's initial shipment as well, or if One Punch Man just sold more. Who knows?

2 (1). Boku no Hero Academia V25
4 (3). Kimetsu no Yaiba V18
5 (5). World Trigger V21 (Jump SQ.)

27 (10). Act-Age V9
29 (27). Jigokuraku V8 (Jump+)
30 (29). Sousei no Onmyouji V20 (Jump SQ.)
39 (42). Yuragi-sou V19
52 (53). Hinomaru V28
72 (68). Ao no Flag V7 (Jump+)
96 (83). BnHA Vigilante V8 (Jump+)
109 (112). Dosanko Gyaru V1 (Jump+)

I say not having a thread is fair game...

do keep in mind that this is a simultaneous publication between jump+ and ribon

also...

To be bloody fair, the last thread for a specific female-oriented magazine was created 10 years ago.

Its well deserved, Jump+ has so many great titles. I find Jigokuraku alone to be better than the current titles in WSJ. I hope Jigokuraku was somewhere in the rankings.

Can someone share the full rankings?

Is that a magazine poll by the readship?
I can't say for sure but both Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi and Kono Manga ga Sugoi are annual magazines of Takarajimasha and the first one is a mix of votes from the public and a jury.

"The specific formula used for calculating points varies each year, but the rankings take into account both the online poll results conducted in September every year as well as votes from "collaborators" (critics, influencers, and other people related to the light novel industry)."

So it's probably the same since it's a similar publication from the same publisher

Have to say, it is VERY telling that Jump+ got above WSJ this year.
Other magazines should be above WSJ tbh, even from the same demography, like Shonen Magazine for example. XD

They just divided it into male and female, no seinen or josei or kodomo or anything else.

The winner for male last year was Tengoku Daimakyou, a manga in Afternoon, iirc.

Yep. Which is probably why the female readers section is more often than not series no one has heard of.

Also, kono manga ga sugoi, just like its name, is more like a recommendation for new interesting manga (emphasis on interesting here), which not always align with the most commercial success one.
Here's the list for last year https://myanimelist.net/news/56445334
Witness it for yourself, not a single Jump or Jump plus title in the male list.

My mistake, there is Jigokuraku in last year list.

I know how it is. I meant that in the list of magazines, WSJ shouldn't be above WSM to me haha

Also missing Astra, blimey.

We still don't have the full list yet, as far as I know. So a WSM could rank no 3? Anyway, even when I prefer Harta and Afternoon stuff more than most shounen, I still think WSJ is much more interesting than WSM. I don't think anything in WSM is as interesting as CSM or Act-Age.

WSM probably is on third, yeah. As far as interesting titles, I think Runway de Aratte is as interesting as Act-Age and Fumetsu as Chainsaw. haha But those come in the end from subjective views after all.

Still waiting for more Runway in English, but the current stuff in Act-Age is better than Runway best arc so far. Fumetsu has been a drag since the island arc and just got improved recently. Still has to be seen how the timeskip will affect the story. Meanwhile, I can't think of any reason to not recommending CSM beside gore and vulgar. Also, the gore in CSM is much more stylish, and not suddenly disappeared like in Fumetsu

Anyway, I hope our conversation is not too off-topic and got people read those manga just got mentioned.

I want a manga in WSJ which will have the MC's as soldiers or in special ops, kind of like in FMA and Shingeki no Kyojin.

I really loving read Military fiction.
If the writer is a genius, sure. Otherwise its gonna end like the
Did you forget to take off your VR Headset cause I dont know which reality youre living in when BLack Clover is just as popular as ever.

Week after week Tabata is raising the bar on storytelling mastery and fans are loving it more and more.

BLack Clover is is alive and thriving.
Bro, you can say that to EVERY manga that is/was more populair than Black clover but look what happend to those. Look at the numbers and stop being in denial, You cant predict the future, stop bandwagon smh clown... I'm only worried about tabata success for long activity

The true manga that is killing its own manga is HeroAca, bringing charas from a spinoff into canon at such a late point in a series life, what a noob move. Awful.
That's like.. your opinion, if it works and many fans are happy. Than it's not "killing ur own manga"
