Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

You do realize he was shown in MHA 6 months prior to his appearance in Vigilante, right? He was already canon.
I think you're not realizing the extent of the comedy here because Tabata did bring characters from the light novels into canon with barely an explanation.

Did you forget to take off your VR Headset cause I dont know which reality youre living in when BLack Clover is just as popular as ever.

Week after week Tabata is raising the bar on storytelling mastery and fans are loving it more and more.

BLack Clover is is alive and thriving.

The true manga that is killing its own manga is HeroAca, bringing charas from a spinoff into canon at such a late point in a series life, what a noob move. Awful.
Vigilantes has ALWAYS been a canon tie in to MHA. Never once has it been non canon. Only difference is that this time this is the first time where a plot a character or major plot point that was shown in vigilantes first came to MHA. Usually it was the other way around. For example when we found out about the origin of stain and how he used to quirk boost drug in vigilantes rather than in the normal MHA.

Still BC is dar better

Now this, was where bringing in characters didn't actually feel right. I was so confused during the witch forest arc 😂.

Ya'll need to stop falling for Sharkbait's bait.
Like, really.

Here's a thought, BC will end by late 2021. *dangling bait*

In all seriousness, it'll also depend on what series pop up in the next year.

I'm not sure why this is even a discussion point. It's already been posted Tabata is fine with a long running series and Jump isn't exactly bursting with popular series right now. Currently I don't think any actually established series will end unless the author wants to or something major happens (every new series this year is a hit, huge hit to sales making it sell worse than an average unestablished series, etc).

How is Jump not bursting with popular series? It has SpyxFamily, Black Clover, Kimetsu no Yaiba, My Hero Academia, One Piece, Act-Age and Jujutsu Kaisen (also Chainsaw man is growing a lot in popularity as of lately). All of them are quite popular Japan. Don’t know where you coming from with that statement. Not to mention the top 10 dominated by Jump series this year (sales)

That's like, not even half of the magazine (one of them isn't even in the magazine), and Kimetsu might end pretty soon. And Black Clover is still more popular than some of those.

I think he means that there aren’t a lot of Jump series in the magazine that are more popular than Black Clover, so it makes sense to have it continue running for years to come. And out of the series that are more popular:

Neverland is almost guaranteed to end next year
Kimetsu is very likely going to end next year
Haikyuu is in its final arc, so it’s got about 2 or 3 years left
Hunter x Hunter is way too unreliable

...which leaves MHA and One Piece. Sure, Jujutsu’s getting an anime this year, which will help boost sales, and there’s also Chainsaw Man and Act Age which have yet to receive anime. But that’s still some time away.

I’m not sure if Dr. Stone has outsold BC, but I doubt it.

EDIT: Made a mistake.

Quite sure it hasn't as Dr. Stone never gained any sort of traction or popularity in the eastern world. Seems pretty niche even abroad and theres little to no incentive to buy it physically or digitally, compared to BC which offers a wealth of newfound content and pleasure upon rereads.

We Never Learn, Yunna, Promised never land and Dr.Stone are also popular. There, that's the majority of the magazine now.

Oop and haikyuu

We know TPN is about to end and WNL is giving "ending soon" vibes so two of those are gone. As Koni said, once you remove the stuff that is about to end naturally there's barely anything more popular than BC left.

SpyxFamily isn't Shonen Jump, it's Jump+. While it's related to WSJ, it's another publication altogether.

And I think what he meant is that WSj isn't getting a new success since 2018 with Chainsaw Man being the last one. So BC which still sells very well, can be there for years due to the newer series and also older series that sell less than it.

The biggest Dr. Stone achievement on Shonen Jump was outselling Yuuna and We Never Learn after the anime...

I actually enjoyed Agravity Boys. Don’t know if either will last, but I prefer it over Zipman

Not this year, next year. You can't wrap tpn and kny in 3 weeks.

Well you would be surprised with how fast a author can wrap a story xD But yeah, isn't ending in 3 chapters.

Jump needs series which are genuinely striking. The last year has been a wave of series that, while technically competent, have very little appeal to them that is long-lasting or beyond just "First chapter cool". Zipman, for example, is technically "fine", but I'm already 90% sure it's gonna be axed already because there's so little to really attract interest.
