It's actually kind of interesting, while Shueisha is a seperate company, Shogakukan still has 50% ownership. Shueisha and Shogakukan both owned Viz Media. And incidentally, Shueisha also Hakusensha, who publishes Hana to Yume magazines (Yona of the Dawn, Oresama Teacher) and Young Animal magazines (Berserk, March Comes Like a Lion). They all belong to Hitotsubashi Group, who also owned publishing department of Viz Media European. Wikipedia is great .

So Shogakukan gains anything from One Piece?

Well. technically they gains their share of profit from the profit Shueisha earned from One Piece (somewhat similar to how Microsoft used to earn profit from iPhone and Android sales due to patents).
Also. Shueisha, owning Hakusensha, gains benefit from Berserk sales, which Shogakukan also has some share of. It's like a publisher centipede

Viz is owned by Shueisha and Shogakukan
Shogakukan established Shueisha and they still own shares on the company but not sufficient to make it a subsidiary

Also, Shueisha established Hakusensha which is in a similar relation, which is why the three are part of the same zaibatsu called Hitotsubashi Group, and from what I remember, all of them are on the same building.

Which of course is bizarre when you think about it since they are competing with each other. lol Kodansha also owns Ichijinsha as they bought them years ago, which is another publisher but smaller than them ofc.

Viz also licensed stuff from Champion, but yeah, it is easier for them to licensed Shogakukan titles.
Also that doesn't explain Precure, Kakegurui, Star Wars and motherfucking Marvel cameos.

If you read Hata manga (or Kumeta, his master). they references stuff from other media, manga, anime, real life celebrities or even politicians all the time.

Guys, before you say anything, maybe you should remember that there's a general level to success for a manga, and it's Kimetsu's utter explosion which is abnormal, not that series are doing less than it.

Stop thinking like business investors looking for another high.

This is on a whole new level of insane, it went well above all of out expectations. Imagine if Shueisha had given volume 18 a bigger first print. And now all the other volumes have crossed the one million figure. Just what will be KNY's peak. Also, KNY will be the #1 manga this year again, there's no way OP can beat these numbers. A good number for MHA this week, makes me wonder if it can cross 600k in a month this time. AA also showing a bit of growth.

This. Sure it doesn't have the huge boost KNY has but KNY is more of the exception than the rule. Also, as I said, it is relatively flat in sales as it sold almost the same as vol 18 and 19, the last time MHA had a 5 day first week... if anything, it is showing consistent sales and that is good for a 5 year series going to its 6th
