Yozakura is following the romantic comedy side, like Nisekoi, he's not a Reborn as many thought.

The style is the same as gintama and beelzebub, several closed comedy chapters and then a serious arc.
That's not the issue, though.

The issue with Yozakura is that there's no clear idea on what it wants to be, and there's no indication of where it's going either. We have a massive cast of characters who over two volumes in have had virtually nothing done with them, chapters which do nothing beyond wasting time, and a very unclear premise which doesn't really focus on the titular family and turned the protagonist into a badass bodyguard that rendered the majority of the them fairly irrelevant. It's just a manga which does very little to justify its existence.

Zipman is technically sound, but I do admit that it's not very exciting. At least, to me.

Another problem is that, while I do like the human character designs overall, the robot designs are pretty lacking.

However, that could just be a me problem. I'm very picky in terms of designs I find cool.

I think mitama is gonna be the ending star of 2019, ill read it eventually. It seems to know what it is and has an interesting thing going on

Zipman world is so boring its gonna get axed

I don't know what Yoza author wants, we lost a guy major character, he just finishes up a chapters conflict in one chapter.

but then you want yozakura to be a serious manga.
And he clearly proved to be a romantic comedy manga focused on slice of life situations.
He is not a Reborn or a spyxfamily that everyone wanted.

Agravity Boys... uh... I could see something worth keeping in this chapter, but goddamnit, it's such a mess.

Zipman on the other hand is way better put together, but it lacks anything interesting to me.

I will keep reading both for now, but not really invested in any of them.

So looks like this will be another week where when i go to read Yozakura chapter expecting something bad i actually enjoy the chapter like all the ones before kkkkk

And despite disagreeing with Stivie with the Nisekoi comparison, i think that some people here were expecting something that the author never promised, it's very clear that the manga is supposed to be mainly a comedy with romcom elements at least for the beginning and some users were expecting something else.

my issue is it seems to want a huge ensemble cast like Gintama, To Love Ru or Saiki but is introducing them too quick. We've now gotten a new character per chapter 3 weeks in a row and none of them seem all that unique. Plus no one in the family has any development. It should have done one of the new characters now and done some more chapters with the rest of the family and them for a while then do another new character.

If Jump is wanting series to survive going forward, they REALLY need to stress the importance of getting people hooked very early on.

It's the same thing with all the cancelled series. Some have good first chapters, but then just twiddle their thumbs for several chapters after that, until FINALLY getting interesting at a point when the series has likely already been decided on cancellation.

You need to start interesting and then CONTINUE BEING INTERESTING. I know some might disagree, but slow build-ups just don't work anymore. Exposition is fine, but not when your series' survival is on the line.

Get people interested, quickly, then once you know you have the breathing room, THEN you can start the slow build up stuff/exposition.

Whether we like it or not, to initially survive in Jump, you need acceleration speed, not top speed, if I'm to use an automotive example.

I get what you're saying (But i really like the new guy and that parrot is hilarious kkkk), but what i'm seeing repeatedly is "this needs a serious arc" like is supposed to have that because part of the readers think it needs, 17 chapters should be enough to understand that the manga is mainly a comedy in this beginning and maybe after some chapters the author will engage in something more serious, and to be honest, that serious arc with Mutsumi being kidnapped was a bit boring to me, i'm enjoying much more as a comedy than something serious, i do agree the author should focus more in the family and etc but for now i'm enjoying for what it is.

I don't think Yozakura problem is that it's focusing on romance or that it's not serious or anything like that. Besides, it's not like it's actually focusing on romcom scenarios, it's more like a excuse to come up with some absurd plot. And they just aren't that interesting to me, here's the thing. This weeks's chapter, for instance, didn't really add anything new to the world, to the characters or to our understanding of them. Which, sure, it don't need to, but the chapter was based on a gag that got old really, really fast. So... there's basically nothing left?

Overall, I want the series to focus more on the family, because they had fun designs and interesting gimmicks, sure, because I feel that's where the potential of the series resides. But if that's not the plan, at least be a more... focused series. Each chapter seems to be shooting for a different way to engage the audience, and while some work better than others, 1) the author isn't creative enough to keep it up just based on the strength of each individual idea and 2) the whole is weaker as a result.

Mitama Secureity is what you can call a slow build up

The whole bit with Mutsumi being kidnapped was a mistake in itself. Why do a serious story like that so early on if you were just going to shift to episodic SOL antics immediately after?

Am I the only one who has liked this Zipman chapter? I mean, stuff is still generic, but it has improved a lot compared with the two previous chapters. The twins chemistry has been way better in this chapter, and the teamwork stuff, while generic, has been well done.

Also, I don't think anyone is actually saying what the series needs is a more serious arc? Overall people are praising Mitama as a example of a new series that is doing things right for them, and that series is anything but serious (well, I mean, until now, maybe next chapter will start an actual serious arc, considering what happened in this one).

Open the last chapter of Yozakura on Manga Plus and read the comments, there are lots of "this needs a serious arc", this week chapter probably have even more.

Sure, and sometimes "some" series can pull it off. It also depends on the genre and general expectations, though.
So isn't something that doesn't work anymore Buranchi kkkkk
