What, and no promotion is supposed to be better? It is still a series in the magazine and a product they are selling to customers. It's not like they should overprint it again like last time or give it the biggest spot in the volume release advertising flyer, but at least promote it at all in there. The series isn't actually dead yet, you know? Despite what many people appear to claim. They could still turn things around, but not if you give it the same treatment as the the final volumes of TSS & Beast Children.
The gap between Haikyu!! 40 and TPN 16 was about 100k after one month, but it looks like Haikyu!! 41 is doing alot better than previous volumes considering its ahead of Neverland on Amazon, Rakuten, Honto, and Tsutaya
Maybe they don't really see the point to promote Samurai 8. After all, they have more information about the reception that we have.
Despite your hate with this series you shouldn't be advocating for incompetence, there's a big difference between making some heavy advertising and just not putting the cover of a new volume in a simple advertise page with all the new volumes of the month, it's just a page, Nakano was already incompetent enough to not give a single color page for the release of the first 2 volumes, and now he's going a new level with not even advertising volume 3 at all, what he's expecting to achieve with that? nothing really positive since he should at least make sure that the manga is included in something so basic like these advertising pages.
The lack of advertising for S8 is the same reason why the final volumes for Taisei, Beast and Shinobi aren't being advertised, Nakano and the rest of the editorial and marketing teams simply sees no point in trying to promote a series which its been basically proven at this point has very little in the way of chances of recovering. This is simply just Jump cutting their losses.
What you said doesn't make any sense and it just makes Nakano and the editorial look even more like a bunch of incompetents, i'm not talking about doing heavy promotions and etc, i'm talking simply about not including the new volume in a advertising page published in the magazine, there's no "cutting losses" about doing something so simple and basic like this, it should be the norm, not doing it just paints the magazine in a bad way in terms of basic promotion, specially when the manga is from someone so big like Kishimoto, even Sunday do a better job.
If HQ 41 ends up selling more than TPN 17 that will be a pretty big drop.
The advertising page is pretty full with the promotion of much better sellers than Samurai 8.

Yeah, it's what I think as well. It'll keep on the magazine until it ends (kishimot said it was 10 volumes, isn't?) if there's still manga with worse sales than it.
Kishimoto never specified 10 volumes. He was asked in an interview how long he'd think the series would run for, guessed 10, then admitted instantly afterwards that the estimate was bogus since he did the same for Naruto.
