I agree that the train arc movie could push it that far. I also think that if it does, they're going to show up to Gotouge's house with a dump truck full of cash to convince him/her to extend the series.

With that level of success, they'd be forced to try everything to get KnY to keep running.

Generally speaking, it's actually rarer to see a solo victory in modern Jump battle manga than a team one. It's an interesting shift in priorities.

Yeah that arc is arguably peak fujo material in the series so itll definitely do well

It's actually not confirmed it will come out this year, but given how production goes, I'd say during the last quarter of 2020 or in the first quarter of 2021. If it comes out earlier than that, it would be rather rushed.

While we're on the subject of team battles, which (current) WSJ battle series do you all think does team battles the best?

Kimetsu has some that I really like (namely, UM6 and UM1 fights).

The big issue however is that KnY was never really meant to be a long-running series. Extending it at this point in the story is really tricky.

Like I said, I don't think jump ever expected it to become a big hit even with an anime. It kept a really fast pacing throughout the entire series and never really expanded in a way that could allow to go in any direction if Gotouge decided to extend it. It's not as simple as "just throw money at her/him".

I guess they could go the jojo way? But there's no real guarantee it would keep its success that way.

Sometime after HF3. I'd say fall is most likely, but given that ufotable had already started working on it before the end of the series I wouldn't rule out summer completely.

Yeah, but are they the main focus of the story? Do the characters them selves treat or concider the team battles as a sport or is it just training and a way to climb the rank to do certain missions.

The "main focus" is just a macguffin to center team sports matches around.

I will say this, I had a lot of ideas for the ways the series could go, but this recent revelation is, in my opinion, the best possible direction it could have went.

A series I really want to see would be about game collecting. Sorta like the part in Hunter x Hunter were Gon and Killua research about Greed Island. I know that such a series would be incredibly niche, but i'd read the hell out of that.

Like, a card battling series that people in real life could play, etc. I mean, not existing card game, but made specifically from the series.

It was masterfully done, simple yet effective. Fujimoto has everything to make CSM an even greater manga and I hope more people get interested in it. Fingers crossed.

The sole mention of God Eater sends a shiver through my spine. Hopefully, Ufotable respects the production and delivers another solid season and a solid movie.
