Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I get where Rica is going for but we can look at the current line up and easily say that some popular/accepted series didn't gave that much confidence when the first preview came out, so you never know.

Like what??? They are literally fighting the main big baddie right now and most of the important characters stories are complete or they're dead.

I don't see Kimetsu getting extended right now but I wish this boost happened a year earlier so Gotouge could've added a few more arcs. I feel like the story kinda got a little rushed over when it entered this Infinity Fortress arc
Well, they are only holding thier own against Muzar right now through ass pulls. So instead if having them beat him in a way that doesn't really make sense. Have him get badly injured. Escape. Time skip. Everyone has trained and gotten stronger. More people have unlocked marks. Explain how the red blade works properly and have certain characters train to get it. Then a real final battle. Or something like that. Idk I'm just throwing shit out cause I think goto can find ways to extend it with things like that. When this arc first started I thought it was stupid that people said it was the final arc until we a whole load of lore was just being dumped on us

Guys, stop debating about when Kimetsu will end. It'll end when Gotouge wants it to end.

Also, Rica, while I've been experimenting with the question of "can you judge a success from Chapter 1", judging a series based on the preview image and a one-shot you can't actually read seems a bit much.

I wish we could have an interview with Gotouge, I think she's the only one in jump that hasn't got any.

Seems like he/she is just a rather private person who doesn’t want any spotlight on themself whatsoever

Not that kind of interview, I mean like the Neverland one where they discussed the future of the manga and that kind of stuff
And maybe how Gotouge feels about all this success and about the anime adaptation.

Seems like a lot of them are this way. I don't think we have full pictures of any of the newer Jump mangaka (Basically anyone who's not Oda or Togashi).

I really hope this doesn't happen I hate Muzan he's the worst main antagonist in jump right now. He's a poor man's Naraku

I mean I feel like they’re private to an even bigger degree.
Like I’d imagine they don’t want to do many interviews at all, regardless of if they’re face to face or not.
I wouldn’t even be shocked if Gotouge is just an alias

Also, even though he’s usually masked, there are full faced pictures of Horikoshi out there

We have Horikoshi, Tabata, Miura, Posuka, Tsutsui, Boichi, Inagaki and Hatomune (Mitama).

Honestly surprised that there's no picture of Furudate after all these years.

Oda is also a very secretive guy

Guess I forgot about them, but then again, most of them only have 1 picture.
Though I don't remember ever seeing a picture of Tadahiro Miura.

Just google it, there's a good number of pictures of him, even full body, at a Yuuna event. Tabata is the most accessible author of them, he doesn't really have problem with pictures, even took a full body new one 1/2 months ago

Given how big manga is in Japan, they'd essentially get zero privacy if people find out who they are.
The most visible mangaka in the last 20 years from WSJ has to be Kubo. He has appeared on TV, has no problem showing his face for interviews or anything. Matsui also seemed to have less of an issue with showing his face.

Last time I looked for him, all I found were Yuuna and Koisome volume covers. Guess i'll check this time.

The increasing secrecy of mangaka is def a more recent thing. Back in the 90s, Jump had covers like these.

I guess we can blame the rise of the internet?

Wasn't this the last time they did that? I don't recall a mangaka cover for 1998 onwards.
