Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

It proves that view counts, just like internet polls, is as reliable as my government interest in human rights :derp .
If view counts are trustworthy enough to declare S8 is more popular than JJK, then Justin Bieber is sure to have more fan in North Korea than anywhere else.

Isn't that easy to understand? Buranchi suspected there was a conspiracy to make clone account to rig the poll, for example, make a lot of account to only vote for One Piece, based on the fact that there was a surge of votes for One Piece without voting for CSM at the same time. I don't know how I can explain this any simpler.
I don’t think he’s necessarily suggesting S8 is more popular than JJK
AND I would argue that at least in the West; S8 and JJK probably aren’t too far off from popularity

MASHLE is much more than the joke for the joke.
The fact that humans without magic are hunted down by the fact that society does not accept them, the fact that the villain blackmails the MC into entering school, and the objective is clear.
Despite the gag, he wants to tell one more story

I was in the thread during the discussion, the only thing was proved was that Boruto fans like to re-read the last chapters some days before the new release, which also happens a lot with Dragon Ball Super too

This talk really doesn't make sense, Samurai 8 is clearly very popular in the app from the beginning, trying to imply a "boost" just seems a tentative of downplay the series (not really talking about you)
It doesn't prove anything.

Remember, Samurai 8 was coasting on the hype of it being from Kishimoto, that was something even news site that didn't typically cover manga like CBR (before it turned into an anime clickbait site) covered. It got about 60K off just the 4 page preview, and broke through 100K off Chapter 1.

Jujutsu Kaisen meanwhile is a manga that was already ongoing when M+ launched, and didn't have an anime to get anituber viewers towards. Same goes for Act-Age, for that matter.

Frankly, it's to be expected S8 had comparatively "high" viewing stats early on. Kishimoto's name is one of the few things a newbie to Jump could easily attach themselves to.

Jujutsu has a disadvantage of if one wants to stick with the legit services you can't read chapters 17-39 and wasn't picked up until almost a year after it started while Samurai 8 is possible to be read in its entirety and has been from that start.

Boruto fans were viewing chapters multiple times solely to boost the view count, asking others to do the same for that purpose, and then celebrating as it rose up in the ranks, right?

Sounds pretty exploitable.

So? whats the point of this discussion? i made a comment about Samurai 8 reaching 820k and suddenly you guys turn this into some kind of competition or trying to downplay the views of the manga with conspiracy? Please...

Again, fans re-reading last chapters before a release, so what? the same happened with Dragon Ball Super many times and you can bet that with others of the highest series like One Piece, in the end of the day no series, specially a monthly, get 3 millions of views in that app with some few fanboys campaigning in a comment section but because it's really popular.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if the volumes end up selling pretty well in the US, Naruto is insanely huge even among non manga readers, if Viz plays their cards right it could still do well here. Of course, that's what was expected in Japan and that didn't happen, but who knows.
It suprises me and yet it doesn't suprise me that Samurai 8 is getting a Viz volume release earlier than something like Chainsaw.

I’m still salty it’s coming out before Act-age.

Heh, I don't. It was one of the biggest mangaka coming back with a new title, it was obvious that many licensors would try to pick it in the very beginning. Shueisha already got their money from it so it's not like they care now. lmao

UU premise and world keep getting more interesting, but the humor in the first pages is in very poor taste. Kind of conflicted about it. I'll give it another chapter or two.

Mashle was decent. Feels like saitama entered the harry potter-verse. Hope it's the type to improve as it goes.

Jujutsu had the best chapter from what I read, the stakes couldn't be higher.

Samurai 8 is being discussed again.:neutral

It didn't surpass Jjk, unless you're only counting 1 of the available languages. Samurai 8 would need 400k more to surpass Jjk on mangaplus.

Have to say, reading the latest Samurai 8 chapter, I'm getting the strong feeling the series is already on the chopping block. There's been some...really odd plot developments that kinda reek of that common habit of dealing out all the authors plans in the last chapters before cancellation.
That's definitely the impression I got. A chapter long info dump that unceremoniously showed off the main villain for the first time and spelled out all the themes and symbolism (which otherwise sounded great) in excrutiating detail before anything related to it could happen. It's as if Kishimoto wanted to give a hint of everything he planned to say with the story if it became a hit.

I don't know how you guys are still reading S8. I dropped it 15 chapters ago still on the battle royale lol I already have tons of series to read so one less is a bless.

It's obvious that i'm talking about the english version, is the main one and the language everyone in the forum talks. Btw, looking at the spanish views, Spy x Family views are surprisingly low despite the manga being updated.

I think the reason for the low views in the spanish version, it's because there's a fansub group who's working on it and from what I read is that ppl prefer to wait the update from that group rather than reading the viz version.

That's something interesting because the Manga Editor that translates Spy x Family here in Brazil do a really fine job, i enjoy way more than the english one, so i can understand that.

Also I think it's also because of the abuse of idioms/expressions that the spanish viz version tends to use. So they wait for a more -neutral- version to read it.
