Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Is it wrong that that Dorei Yuugi cover is making me laugh uncontrollably?
IT's must be the topless dude in the back, The way he flexes is hilarious.

The twink(trap?) from imprison love is so goddamn cute.

It wasn't so much the imagery itself, but the attached dialogue. It's been a while since I read it, but it was something about the mother stating that she'd never harm her child, then Dio turns her into a vampire, and moments later that motherly instinct to protect your child is gone.

I don't know, it struck a chord with me, because it reminded me that our emotions aren't this mystical, magical thing, and that changing our brain chemistry makes us completely change as people.

Like, is consciousness a thing, or just biology. I don't know, maybe I was overthinking it.
Yup, must be overthinking :umad .
After Dio killed(baked?) Jonathan's dog, all of his misdeeds seem like nonsense spectacle to me (and I don't even like dog).

Oh wow, I almost forgot that it was early this week.

So JJK doesn't get the cover for its anniversary just like act-age? :S Issue 15 it is I guess...

From the look of this this seems like Mitama and Yozakura both look like they’re gonna have higher placements this week

I see Jujutsu getting issue 15 or 16 cover easily. If not, then issue 17 or 18 to link 2nd anniversary with the anime info that's supposedly coming out in March.

The title that is getting doomed by Shueisha would be Black Clover but I'm waiting two weeks. Maybe Black Clover (and WNL) are getting the cover in next issues because anniversary.

WNL is literally ending in, like, two-three chapters.

They both have color pages this week, which are considered unranked.

Agravity Boys seems be doing much better than Zipman so far TOC wise, which is great!

The usual bottom 3 in Yuragi, Samurai and Zipman seems to not change for now.

Act-Age being so far down on the ToC really puts into the perspective how you should take it with a grain of salt. Last week was "look, two year anniversary cover and popularity poll! Series is doing great!", then this week it's just above the back of the magazine ecchi, the current flounder, and Samurai 8.

That top five or even top ten is getting more and more difficult to stay in with all the older, bigger series and all the new unranked series floating around. That'll be pretty different around, say, May or June, though.

And Haikyu!! also fell once to Bottom 5 to raise 2 weeks later and get a Cover and LCP. Low ranks for established series are just a matter of having to fill the magazine and not being possible to maintain the exact same order every week, since it would be dumb. It's just worrying unnecessarily.

Moral of the story is, stop worrying about the TOCs of established series. Just pay attention to the uncertains.

My view is that a series is probably doing acceptably if it's placed above Samurai 8. So Agravity Boys and Act-age seem low but it's mostly due to the lack of bottom padding, but Zipman and Yuuna are doing pretty badly since they're under S8.

We used to have that with Bleach, if a series ranked below Bleach in its last few years they were guaranteed dead, but if they ranked above it they had a chance.

So, I am copying something from TV tropes below called "Mohs Scale of Violence Hardness" which is they use to show how gruesome a work is.

7. Blood splatters/spurts start to become noticeable. Mild gore may be seen. Onscreen acts of mutilation of bare flesh by bullets or blades generally start here. Mostly bloodless but onscreen (clothed) genital trauma may appear. Mildly or cartoonishly bloody decapitations start here. Mild obliteration or "gibbing" (little to no graphic/discernable body parts) may appear. Graphically and gorily burnt skin starts to show up on this level. Onscreen rape will always rate at least a level 7.

8. Explicit and/or particularly large, but not comedic, blood squibs, spurts, and splatters are a frequent sight. Perhaps some moderate gore can be seen. Such as a moderately graphic (realistically spurting blood) dismemberment, decapitation and/or head explosion (maybe a not-too-graphic, semi head obliteration, if brief or out of focus enough) and somewhat bloody, but not explicit genital trauma may appear.

9. Gore really starts becoming common here. Exposed organs, bone, or muscle may be seen briefly. Bloodily exploding body parts really start showing up. Graphic semi-obliterated/decapitated heads appear here.

10. Gorefest territory. Nightmarish depictions of bodily harm such as being reduced to pulp, skinned corpses, explicitly mutilated genitals, etc. show up here, as do realistic, prolonged, brutal sequences of genuinely gory mayhem. The very hardest of hard-R and even NC-17 make their appearances on this level. Real-world graphic violence (within fictional context) and on-screen graphic/gory scenes involving children reach this level.

Kimetsu no Yaiba is in the 7-8 territory. I don't know if chainsaw man and some others will be higher though given the description of 10, I don't think any WSJ series will pass 9.
What about fist of the north star, was one of the most violent series in wsj
