They are basically the same when it comes to the effort put in, and when one goes all out, the end result is irrelevant

I mean, just accept the obvious - we didn't see A SINGLE MOMENT of their fight. There is nothing really for us to argue upon, other than Gray seemingly had a mid-high diff battle against Mira and Elfman in whatever mode he was in (according to Mira tards : bb...bbb.....bbut Cana and Lucy no diff'd Elfman without a single scratch on their body!)

if he went all out, there is no reason to assume that he didn't use is, especially against someone like Mira who would be the best weapon against, Gray's greatest known strength is his knowledge, to not use it would be utterly stupid.

Hatred is simply making oneself feel better, which is what Gray was doing, while anger for the sake of others poi’s much more tolerable.

Why don't you understand? The bonds that he had with Juvia and his dad (aka PoF) caused hatred and a massive strength boost against Invel and END. He though of Juvia and his parents. No different than Natsu using the guild's mark to beat FH Zeref (PoF)

Gray had hatred when he faced Deliora and could not beat it, hate is not a good trait to have, it only poisons oneself and only seeks to satisfy their needs with the suffering of others. It is only because of his DSM which is fueled by his darkness, the darkness that Ur worked hard to seal away. Natsu cared about his friends and his flames burn more intensely the more emotional he gets.
