Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

That's subjective.
I've read up to infinity train arc and the fights until then were great and definitely a reason why I kept coming back to it. Gotouge knew how to set up tense fights incredibly well.

But that being said, I've not seen any fights after that though. So maybe the quality dipped after the infinity train arc.
It is but there's no denying the asspull powerup. The fight in demon train is some of the best in the series (Id say the fight before the current fight in the manga is the best so far).

Id say the series declines in quality after the demon train arc but it doesnt get bad. I remember RLD & the swordsmith arc felt like Gotouge used the same templates for them.

The fights are good. My main complaint with the series is how it constantly pulled the:

- Enemy is seemingly defeated.
- Nope, still going.
- Repeat, over and over for 10-15 chapters.

All battle shonen do that to a certain extent, but KnY feels more egregious with the handling. It gets old really fast, and discourages reading it weekly.

I've dropped the series in the past and just asked friends who still read it if X fight has concluded, then I'll catch-up.
But that only happens literally in one arc. If anything, the rest of the fights are resolved even quicker in the following arcs.

How much you wanna bet this is because Jump wants to at least milk it at least up until summer?

That definitely happened in more than one arc. I forget his name, but I recall that happening with the Pillar fight with all of the wives. Maybe not *as* egregious, but still enough that I found it annoying.

I guess my point is, KnY is better read in chunks, in my opinion.

It happened before the sales boost, IIRC.

The RLD arc is widely considered to be the best in the series, no clue what you're on about.

Same goes for the RLD/Swordsmith comparison. I have no idea where you're pulling that from, even.

That's the one I'm referring to lol. Uzui/Tanjirou and his pals against UM6. Well I catch up with KnY when Smith arc was still going, so I read RDL in a sitting, I felt excitement and suspense while reading it so I get its a better read while the fights are over. It must have been a pain in the ass reading RDL weekly.

Widely considered? LOL.

The fight with Uzui is the most dragged out fight I've ever seen in the series. From what I remember they both felt dragged out with their fights, with the one in RDL being the worst.

It was a pain with RDL. The smith arc fight still felt dragged out but not as bad as RDL.

Yeah. I mean I have no idea what the general opinion was at the time since I picked up kimetsu during the swordsmith arc so i binged it, but I can assure you the general opinion has RLD as the best/one of the best arcs nowadays.

Which I do agree with, by the way. I can see how one could see it as stretched while reading weekly (and I do partially agree), but it flows very well when you read it in one go. I had a great time reading it.

I laughed because a.) it's not the general opinion that it's the best arc (Train arc fits that more I believe) and more importantly b.) even if it was the general opinion it doesn't mean anything as its an appeal to popularity.

I read both arcs weekly

I think the anime can fix the dragging part of the fights with better pacing and that sort of stuff. This is where I think RDL can potentially be adapted as another movie.

That's what I'm hoping. I loved Uzui's fighting style.

I'm not sure if they'll make RDL as a movie. I thought they may do it like this...

-> Demon Train movie
-> Season 2 covers (Demon Train & RDL arc)
-> Swordsmith village arc movie
-> Season 3 cover (Swordsmith village & Pillar training arc)
-> Demon Infinity Fortress movie
-> Season 4 & onwards covers this current arc

I know why you laughed, and I'm telling you you're being silly. Reading weekly or binging can radically change the perception of an arc and this is something you should know by now.

I'll just leave it as "My favourite arc is RLD" if you prefer. In either case, you trying to frame it as if the manga objectively gets worse after the train arc isn't any better. I personally don't know many people who would share that opinion, if any at all.

I know but it doesn't change the issue that the fight was dragged out. Besides people binge read at different speeds so it may be easier or harder to spot issues in this case.

Among most discussion I read about KNY, RLD was definitely the most favored arcs and that the series improve from the train arc.

I don't think either Swordsmith or Infinity fortress will work as a movie really so i think they will continue with TV adaptation after the train movie.

That's a good thing. Jojo also became like that with the momentum of victory constantly shifting in the favor of either the protagonist or enemy. It raises the tension. Raising the difficulty level is generally considered as acceptable, as in - in most writing courses that touch on conflict, it's taught that giving the protagonist "free chances" aka coincidences/asspulls is bad writing, but any setback to them e.g. an antagonist not dying can be coincidental and is still allowed to be excused by default unless it goes beyond the bounds of being egregious. Coincidences/miracles that are BAD for the main character - are fine by default.

Also @Buranchi I don't get it, you were joking about someone writing a 5-page CSM essay in the vein of his GoTW (IIRC) essay. But aren't we not allowed to write about established series like that? Was it just a joke?

Appeal to popularity, next.

I somewhat agree for swordsmith but I think the final arc can totally fit as both a movie & TV adaptation.

Well I think we will find out that by the end of the Train arc movie, dropping the s2 announcement at the end would be nice. Who knows how ufo will continue the franchise, I hope it's by seasons, movies are cool but not that cool since they are only meant for Japan.

Thinking about it...i hope the date release won't be changed due to the coronavirus epidemic...
