I'm pretty sure someone's gonna bring Watsuki's pedo stuff anyway so might as well be the first to do so.. So this question just popped into my mind.. Oda knows Watsuki because he was his assistant and he worked alongside Shimabukuro who also had problems with lolis and law.. So like do you think Oda knew of Watsuki's pedo stuff? Also I heard lolicon stuff like magazines with actual girls was legal in Japan like 5 years ago or something, so maybe Oda just didn't care?
I heard somewhere that all the leaks of the color pages of WSJ came early (wednesday/thursday) because they're from places in Japan that have the Jump before monday's release, like specific places or island or idk. Is it true? In that case is it legal/illegal to share it?
This is just anecdotal, as it's a memory I have of an almost 10 year post which isn't even verifiable but I do remember it was posted by a trustworthy member which apparently read that in 2ch.. So I guess it's kinda reliable..
So.. And my memory might be a bit fuzzy here, but a long time ago (I'm talking probably 2007-ish) we used to get chapters for OP, Naruto and BLEACH scanlated (or maybe just RAWs I don't really remember) as early as Tuesday, yeah, almost a week in advance from the street date.
And I remember this was posted around the time of the Tohoku earthquake (2011) and I think the source is 2ch, I'm not gonna check my post history from back then.. but anyway someone said that apparently the person that used to leak WSJ RAWs always bought them from a liquor store, and he/she had to like go to this liquor store in a random town in the middle of a rural place in Japan.. This is where things get fuzzy because I think it was in the middle of a storm?
I don't remember but I'm pretty sure this person that used to scan old WSJ Raws got them from a liquor store that sold WSJ almost a week before street date , very likely a friend of his/her that sold it exclusively to him/her in advance..
And this mysterious leaker apparently provided the RAWs this one week where NO ONE expected the RAWs to be scanned because of a natural disaster (That's why I assume it was the Tohoku Earthquake.. But I honestly don't remember if it was a typhoon or something like that).
I deeply remember this because I thought to myself. "Holy sh*t! Thanks, kind stranger, thanks to you I can read my favorite manga this week, but really.. Just be safe lol."

While of course Oda most likely wouldn't start to shun his old mentor, one would think that this may cause Oda to at least rethink doing promotional stuff like this with Watsuki, but apparently not. Figures.

Besides, again, one more time, a little thing I wrote in my original post:
Loli magazines (As in cp) was legal in Japan until 2014 Oda was assistant to Watsuki during Ruroken's run, and he started OP in 1997 so he probably was Watsuki's assistant from around 1994ish-1996ish, hence Watsuki's magazines weren't illegal at the time of Oda being his assistant. Even if Oda knew about those magazines.. Heck even if Oda Idk bought magazines for Watsuki, like you know an errand boy would do, "Ey Oda-kun go buy me this week's CP" that would have totally been legal.
I don't even know if I'm allowed to post dark humor here lol.. Don't want any snowflakes to get mad.
I mean at this point it's pretty clear that Oda is "cool" with what Shimabu did, he's one of the few mangakas that still called him a friend and gave him shout-out in WSJ, which I guess in a sense I kind of "admire" Oda's loyalty..
I really don't think it's that far-fetched that if Oda knew of Watsuki's cp he would have been "cool" with it, I mean he's certainly Ok with collaborating with these two regardless of their actions.
But you know what guys just put me on silence because maybe my posts are not for you, I always make crazy "what if"scenarios and ask weird questions that are just based on assumptions. Let's just keep talking about this week manga.

Also, is this discussion gonna swerve into whether loli content is pedophilia or not? We already have governments debating this, I’d rather not do it here.
Trust me, I don't like Roshi, but I'm able to see it as akin to the racist jokes in old theatrical animations, it's a form of comedy we have thankfully tried to move beyond. Kinda.
