Moderator Notice: Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.
These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Martial arts are battle sports, same as Hinomaru Zumou being about sumo which is a fighting sport, and Prince of Tennis being about beating each other up with tennis balls. They're structurally like sports manga but have some of the appeals of battle manga too.
Alleges that editor mismanaged the manga, attempted to bribe creator for their silence

So I was reading this and got curious: this case is from Young, but has this situation ever happened in Jump and do we have knowledge of it? Or maybe there has been a similar situation but not publicly known/theorized? I think stuff like this gives us a good insight into how editors can actually destroy a series.

Yuu Watase that was publishing Arata Kangatari on Sunday said one of his former editors were forcing her to redraw many pages of the chapters just because he didn't liked or understand it to the point were she was doing more redraws than drawing the chapters itself and going entire nights just redrawing the chapters which caused a lot of stress and made her lose interest in the manga, but he was replaced, still this probably had a impact in her late depression problems.
In a recent post on her personal blog, mangaka Yuu Watase (Fushigi Yuugi, Ceres: Celestial Legend) wrote openly about her negative experiences with a former...
You just made me think what if someone made an actual esports manga in jump. Like one where they play moba games like league of legends for example. Wonder if that would be interesting to read. No VR or isekai stuff. Just actually playing games
I think there probably is an aspiring author out there figuring out how to make a series out of this. Esports is becoming more professionally acknowledged after all

Oi we already talked about this. That's not what WT is about at all. It's not a sports manga it's a battle manga. The team battle thing won't even talk up to 30% if the story if it ever finishes
Like @Rica_Patin said WT is both though ofc Battle is the main focus. However WT does its "sports" elements so well that it does feel like a sports manga, especially now in the Tournament arc with its teams, points, rules and a goal for which strong rivals need to be beaten to reach it. It is like fencing. I think most would think of battle first if they hear that word but nowadays fencing happens mostly if not only in sport where you need to be quick, nimble and skilled to gain the most points. Or Kendo where most would say it is a sport, but it came from the Samurai Battle Training and lasted till the modern times. I love both parts of WT: The real battle ones with Invasions, Defense, Destruction and the fake ones that feel like the real ones and look like the real ones but are training and rank gaining/losing tools for the Border Agents. <3
Man, I miss the weekly updates~
Though I should be happy Ashihara came back after such a long time and still keeps going despite the horrible pain he must feel everyday due his condition.

Given how well liked Mobas are in Asia a manga about people playing such a game with a 100+ characters, different maps and tournaments with teams could be very successful if done right. It shouldn't copy LoL or Dota though and go broke for a Moba that would be so complex and costly to make it could never be real, like maps that change their territory, combos between characters (which with 100 would mean an insanely high number of combos!), different modes and so on.

They should make a manga where the protagonists make their own game company and in which greedy game companies like EA and Activision are the antagonists.
