Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Not that I'm going to deny that the fight with Muzan is very meh or anything, mind you, but this is such a reach it's actually pretty funny. Muzan having a weak fight also doesn't ruin the story at all, contrary to stuff like freaking Kaguya appearing from fucking nowhere and Obito turning good, which absolutely did.
Never said that Muzan ruined the story, I only write about him as character and overall his battle beeing bad, did it change the story as whole? No.

I like his character a lot, though. Reminds me a lot of Naraku but even more of a smug bastard. It's the way he fights I have a problem with.

It's not all about being villain that it has to be bad guy in fact they are more flexible and very versatile rather than they do typical villain stuff. That's why they got more praise even more than the Strawhats and they are more fun to talk about.

Take example is Buggy the clown, he was like your typical villain that he needs to be defeated and forgotten in typical shonen way but when he had interesting lore and in-depth all this time he got quickly praise for it and the fanbase are starting to create memes about him because he was so fun.

Muzan and some WSJ villains are impossible to utilize this type of villain because they were supposed to be written like that and that's it forgettable unlike Buggy he was over 20+ years old villain and still he was so fun to talk about him till this day. (That's why he was on Stampede movie because the fanbase do love him)

Heck! I can remember all of them from the beginning because they are so iconic even the lackluster villains like Wapol and Foxy but for the minor villains from WSJ beside One piece, can you remember them all? What is their iconic things or parts that you would remember them for a long while? Nothing but for Buggy his big rounded shape shiny red nose is all you need to him remembered.

If you failed to understand my point, you are just narrow minded and you wanted perfect written villain at your own taste nothing more, nothing else.
I was originally going to ignore this post, but you do realise Buggy has been a comic relief character for decades, right? He doesn't stick around due to being a great villain, he sticks around due to being a meme.

You may as well say JESSIE & JAMES are great villains.

Well, in the context of One Piece, we sometimes don't need the villains' motivations because its been established that it is the age of piracy, where everyone is to some extent, going after wealth or even more ambitious, the One Piece, to gain power and authority. (Such as Don Krieg, Kuro, Buggy, Blackbeard, Wapol, the Supernovas) Even though the story doesn't explicitly tell us that, the series' setting itself does. This also puts Luffy nicely in contrast with them as he is essentially walking a similar path as the villains.

My point is, these villains already have their motivation laid out in between the lines, so all Oda needed to do was give them great designs and 'gimmicks' to be memorable. This is also similar to Sports manga where everyone's goal is to win

I didn't see anyone posting, but seems like the preview for volume 5 of Samurai 8 included on volume 4 don't state anything about being the last one, which would make sense if the manga is ending in 3 chapters or something:

I know this isn't a 100% proof of not ending, but overall when a manga will end in X volume, the preview for this volume will state that is the last one, this is how many endings are discovered or confirmed.
Last volumes are tagged and listed in the magazine, not in the preview of series' volumes themselves. As someone stated earlier, we would have known about axes way sooner for the Taisei, Beast and Shinobi trio.

I do agree! Buggy is like your Jessie and james villain after he was asskicked by Luffy but shockingly unexpected that he had come up a goal during Marineford which is so hilarious (he was forcing his followers to pursuit even higher position to be great pirate than he was before but what else is he going to do lol).

Good clarification buddy but still if he get somehow an Emperor status, that's a villanous possible way to put everybody a shame below him.

This brings up an interesting idea. What would you guys say is your top 10 Jump villains? You can do top 5 or 3 if you want as well.
late to the discussion but here goes:

1 - Enrico Pucci (Stone Ocean)
2 - Meruem (HxH)
3 - Hisoka (HxH)
4 - Geto (JJK)
5 - Aomine (Kuroko)
6 - Shigaraki (MHA)

felt like throwing in a bonus no. 6

Shigaraki has the potential of being one of best villains ever. I love how Horikoshi treated him like thr main character of Hero Academia for a while.

I should think in a ranking of villains but Makoto from Kenshin and Raoh from Hokuto no Ken were superb. Also, Gemini Saga from Saint Seiya

Edit: Also. Dakki from Hoshin Engi

I'm not saying that it happens with every series but that is something that happens with many, the recent case being Senryuu Shoujo from Shonen Magazine having the end officially revelead on vol 12, not in the magazine: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ne...l-manga-ends-with-13th-volume-in-june/.156527

"The 12th compiled book volume of Masakuni Igarashi's Senryū Girl (Senryū Shōjo) manga revealed on Monday that the manga will end with the 13th volume, which will ship on June 17"

*Check the villain ranks of last pages
*Raoh was mentioned only once
*Saga or Hades aren't even mentioned

You guys should read the classics. Almost all ranks have villains from late 90s titles at earliest ;_;

And it indeed happened with Volume 40 of Nanatsu no Taizai. Still, those are announcements for long-runners. I don't really think Samurai 8 would enter that big announcement treatment.

Traditional summary of the week :
- Dr.Stone really got into me this week, it feels like it still could go for quite some time.
- TPN was great, loved the reveal and the little backstory of it.
- KNY had a great chapter, however and I still have doubt that it will be the end of it, it feels like something could happen that leads the serie to continue (even if I would prefer it to end after this arc).
- Yozakura : Fun chapter, but I think the author should focus more on serious stuff instead of cheesy comedy.
- Mitama : kinda funny chapter, but not much to say about it
- Zipman : Very good art as always, but we already know the fate of this one
- Agravity Boys : Still really into this serie, I really got Grand Blue vibes from this chapter
- UxU : The charadesign of the new characters seems really cool, I'm really looking forward to the next couple chapters, a strong arc with an interesting concept would be great. As in HxH which had great arcs, I think this serie could have that.
- Mashle : Funny chapter, a lot of Harry Potter references and some pages have really cool art !
- GoTW : Cool chapter, feels like the universe of this manga could be really cool so I'm looking forward to the next chapters !!

This week had really cool chapters compare to the previous ones IMO !

Shinuki, you do realize that's Kodansha, not Shueisha, right?

I’ll check out the Seiya manga if Viz ever adds it to the vault.

And I guess that’ll never happen with FotS, given whatever’s going on with the rights/translation there. I’ve been meaning to read it for a while, so probably will go the fan route.

TPN is pure miserable to read at this point.
This must be what Souma fans feel like.
Still not sure if I should lament how shit it turns into or just laugh at its shittyness.

No, I was a Souma fan. The problem with Souma is it actually did have a generally agreed upon drop in quality. About 15 volumes before it ended. Which TPN hasn't had, considering people are certainly braving the viral conditions to still buy copies of it, while Food Wars sales went down considerably even before the end.

Edit: if it's really as miserable as you think, then why are you still reading it?

Bleach also got its ending announced in the penultimate volume. Soma too, iirc. It's actually fairly common to announce it that way from what I've seen.

It doesn't usually happen for short flops but I'd wager that's because they never know whether the next volume will be the last or not.
