"Every One Piece Villain"
...May I ask why people hold OP villains in such high regard? While there are some decent ones, it's overall pretty mid-tier with lots of generic bad guys who're defined purely by gimmicks. Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen among others all have much better villains in them.
Not every villain needs to be conceptual deep.
I recently seen a lot of people have the opinion that what makes a good villain is “a villain who believes that his actions are good”, or “a villain that the audience can sympathize and relate too”.
Which I completely disagree with. Those points do make for a good villain. But it also depends on the tone and the atmosphere of the series. In something like say The Promised Neverland, Isabella being a sympathetic villain totally fits with the series.
With One Piece however, a villain like Arlong only needs to be a menacing villain with an emotional tie with one of Of heroes. He doesn’t need to have a compelling backstory, or deep character motivations.
Most One Piece villains are just very memorable with their “gimmicks”, actions, emotional connections with the heroes, and how they interact with the Strawhats.
And with all of that being said, there actually are some villains with compelling motivations and stories mixed into the villain rousted. Like Doflamingo for example.
