Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Easily Black Clover, Asta is the most masculine main character of SJ, be in design or personality, Kogarashi (Yuragi-sou) being a honorable mention.
Kogarashi was a such a chad in this recent chapter. Sure, it's just a dream , but still...

#1 Kimetsu no Yaiba
#2 My Hero Academia
#3 The Promised Neverland
#4 Haikyuu!!
#5 Jujutsu Kaisen
#6 Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun
#7 Chainsaw Man
#8 Koi wa Tsudzuku yo Dokomademo
#9 Gotoubun no Hanayome
#10 Darwin's Game

Kimetsu no Yaiba has currently sold 29,743,955 in 2020 alone, really close to beating OP's yearly record before the middle of the year.

Ok, jokes aside (but it's really absurd seeing WSJ's 4 biggest sellers bar OP/KnY/HxH release a volume and still only sell half as much as kimetsu's backlog PUT TOGETHER)

MHA and Neverland are actually closer than I expected, which one comes out on top depends on which one has the higher backlog but I thought they'd do better, this might be below 300k for the new volume which would continue a downward trend in sales for MHA

Good stuff from both JJK and CSM

I doubt this is an indication of MHA's downward trend. If anything, this feels more like a case of Kimetsu sucking up all of the other manga's audiences because of the still on-going hype and people rushing to buy the manga because it's ending soon. If anything, Kimetsu's sales might go downwards sooner than MHA, if only because it doesn't have much of a lifespan left.

MHA 26 sold more, it was #1 for 4 days on Shoseki and topped the weekly ranking, not to mention TPN's backlog sold better this week so there's some sort of gap between the series but we'll only know the certain amount on Thursday.

MHA has been far from its peak sales for a while though, volume 25 didn't make it to 500k in 4 weeks IIRC

Oh yeah, you're right. I thought MHA's backlog would be doing better than TPN's since it has an anime running but it seems TPN's also sold better last week, interesting

MHA's anime "boost" slowed down some weeks ago (the movie propelled the backlog more than the anime actually) while TPN's been rather consistent for a while.

The last volumes for MHA and TPN sold both around 495K. They also have the same peak of around 590K.

They've really been neck and neck for a while.

If HeroAca continues to decline in sales, it would personally be kind of sad. I had honestly thought that volume sales would at least be somewhat stable even when it stopped growing. I know every franchise declines eventually, but it just still feels a bit too early to me. Maybe it's because I'm expecting the series to run for a long while - not One Piece long, but just under Naruto and Bleach's runtimes, and so I feel like we're not even halfway done. At least NEverland's ending soon and Haikyuu's in it's final arc.

Ironically, other aspects of the franchise seem to be doing well, such as the anime and the movie. Time will tell to see how One's Justice 2 sells though (it'll a the very least do better than A Hero Nobody Knows, right?).

I've always believed MHA would end at 500-550ish max. Which is about the right amount of length for a generational series. Before Kimetsu exploded, MHA was still selling 500k per volume, the downward trend which coincided exactly alongside Kimetsu's sudden emergence leads me to believe this is a case of Kimetsu sucking up the rest of the market because it is the BIG THING happening for now.

Like I said before, Kimetsu going downward might happen sooner than MHA, if only because the end is near.

MHA might not be a gigantic hit in Japan but its arguably their biggest international hit since Naruto, they'll never cancel it
This. And not to mention that kids in Japan are already considering it "the manga they grew up with", just like how Kishimoto regarded DB, and Horikoshi regards The Big 3.

Thats where im kinda conflicted. Its obviously not a seller anywhere near KnY or OP, but the series has high regards from kids to mangakas themselves (the many former assistants Horikoshi claims, to authors like Gege claiming to have drawn inspiration from MHA). He has interviews with the 3 biggest authors of the 2000s, an anime thats constantly in the top with ratings, many other things. Like the series's impact is alot bigger than its sales
