Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I'm curious, why was Jaguar forever placed at the back of the magazine?
It was very likely an agreement between Usuta and Jump, it was a very "special" manga in the way it was published, it was 10 pages per week, I think even its first chapter is like 10 pages long, and always was in the last pages of JUMP (Though from time to time it got the Cover of the magazine and was put in the first pages of the magazine).

Other successful authors have had this kind of treatment too, for example One Piece's Oda has a break around every 3 weeks, Toriyama's Dragon Ball (And I think Dr. Slump too) was 14-15 pages per week instead of the usual 18-19 pages (That's why Dragon Ball ran for 11 years and "only" had 42 volumes, an 11 year run would probably equate 55 volumes, 5 volumes per year being the norm for most titles).

Kiben Gakuha
(Haruichi Furudate)

Not related to the content, but geez, that scan looks horrible. It ruins an otherwise good spread. I'm glad that high-quality official translations have become so prevalent now, Furudate's works have always suffered from poor-quality Edited Mangas (especially their early stuff). Same could be said for a lot of other Jump authors like Horikoshi.

That scanning style reminds me of Anedoki...
Speakingn of which, no one has bothered to rescan some of these older series? I was rereading a bit of I"s and Ichigo and boy do those scans look bad...

Hardly? I'd say the early scans of MHA was right up there with MS's quality. FA scans did a hell of a job back then. Helps that it was right in the middle of last decade, at which point scan groups had improved in quality compared to the 2000s.

East, into the night had a pretty good chapter again. Now we know the state of the church of the Fire God as well as what is under the holy city of Nasra. Will be interesting to see what happens next chapter.

Nice timing.
Samurai 8: The Tale of Hachimaru is off to an uneven start, but it does have decent potential and is likely to be a hit with younger readers as-is. It's deft use of popular themes in international children's literature is key here, and if the world feels too underdeveloped right now, that does stand to be corrected in the second volume. Okubo's art has a pleasing crowdedness to its panels and just the right amount of weirdness to the cyborg samurai designs, so even if this volume doesn't quite catch you, it may be worth giving it a second to see if things even out.

MHA didn't have the worst scans, but they still managed to ruin/completley obscure Horikoshi's precise hatching techniques by turning them into large blobs of darkness. This was an especially big problem with some of the more recent scanlated chapters. I remember there was an incident a while back where there was a lot of speculation regarding a barley visible figure that appeared in a panel which turned out to be much more obvious in the official translation.

Thanks. Hunter x Hunter falls under this treatment as well is it?

(Haruichi Furudate)

Now I want a Kiben Gakuha re-serialization once Haikyuu ends haha. I'm gonna read it.

I mean it's all pure speculation, right? Like this isn't confirmed or anything, but some cases are just too easy to spot, and Togashi is also one of them, yeah. He was very likely given special treatment too. I mean after all he serialized Level E in monthly installments (Similar to how Boruto as first serialized).

as I have said multiple times, Matsuura should return with Toga. They have done 2 horror oneshots; The vampire one and Honomieru shounen. I think Honomieru also has some detective elements.

I know I'm traveling, but I want MASHLE to be a success just to see if J.K Rowling will want to meet the author of Mashle.

Give Samurai 8's performance it was expected. It had some genuinely good elements but it was pretty rough at places.

Is it me or this Kishimoto hate is a little bit exaggerated? Just looking through the comments on Twitter and Facebook, is a quite something.
It is, yeah. I think it's mostly a case of people wanting a big name to fail.

I'm willing to bet Oda's next series (assuming he does one) will also face similar criticism. Especially if it fails.

Eh. It's like everything. When something succeeds, you'll see all the love. When something fails, you'll see more of the hate. People love being proven right.

It's the same thing with OP right now as well. Twitter in general is a stupid platform with toxic fucktards.

It's the reason I'm actually glad Kubo isnt doing this as a new full series. There would be a lot of people in the shadows right now wanting him to fail.

I really wanted it to succeed and was happy seeing kishimoto back on something he truly wanted to make, but as shown. It ain't it man...

Lemme turn up some bleach openings againO0

Samurai 8 wasn’t as good as its stans made it out to be, nor was it nearly as bad as it’s haters wanted it to be(though this is all subjective).

I think most of the hate stems from how ridiculous the stans can be
“Samurai 8 is the best manga series in the industry right now!”
“Samurai 8 is the best thing in Jump currently”.
“Just wait Samurai 8 gets an anime! Haters will flock”

And how dismissive fans can be towards any criticism
“People who don’t like Samurai 8 haven’t read past the first chapter”
“People who hate on Samurai 8 don’t understand the complex storytelling”
And they don’t even consider that maybe the low placements, low sales, and countless ppl repeating the same criticism may mean that the series has some legitimate flaws(not saying they can’t still love it despite flaws)

The side of the haters who obsessively hate on it is a bit weird and immature though
