Waking up to a strange issue, is weird, but on the bright side all the newbies (even Zipman lol) went way up after that 4/5 shoseki, even if they're starting to go down, I think those reprints make a lot more sense now, I think Agravity 1, Undead 1, and Yozakura 2 could all have a decent chance of at least meeting Yozakura 1 in sales at this point.

Jump has literally always been cutthroat and cancels the majority of series it debuts each year. This didn't start in 2012, and this isn't some grand revelation.

This is an excerpt of this document I had made and used to update every year. But from 1997-2012 you still are seeing the same patterns and it was the same well before that as well.

Jump has literally always been cutthroat and cancels the majority of series it debuts each year. This didn't start in 2012, and this isn't some grand revelation.

Unfortunately, people seem to have this flawed notion that current WSJ is not the same as it was in the past. S8 defenders kept bringing this up in arguments as well.

Jump will always be Jump and like it or not, it's why they are the most successful manga publisher in Japan.

[OtterBrigade]

I wonder if the reason people think this is now we have access to all the failures. Back in the 2000s all we got were the success stories but now we get everything licensed as soon as it starts in Japan. Even before that we got most new manga's first 3 chapters as "Jump Starts" for a while and people were paying more attention to Jump in general for a while. There's been a ToC thread on Crunchyroll since 2013 which is just around the time people think Jump started getting cutthroat for example.

[BX-02BLODIA]

spring weapon lasted like 10 vols, i don't think it counts as an axe.

But....but.....SAMON!

[Jovan]

spring weapon lasted like 10 vols, i don't think it counts as an axe.

7 actually. It got axed shortly after vol5 release with vol6 and 7 having a 2 month consecutive vol release after the final chapter.

[yadayada]

If anything I would argue Jump is less cutthroat now than it used to be. I'm fairly sure psyren would survive today.

[pamuchi]

Nice, I hope there will be more from other mangakas

Ok. Good on M+ staff for explaining the situation as soon as possible. @Buranchi, would you consider sticking this post for the time being just in case?

That Twitter account is pretty good, but just so everybody knows:

You know, I never really hear anything about Rising Impact, despite it having a decent run of 3 years...

Is there actually any confirmation that Psyren was axed because from my memory it ended pretty much right where it should.

With the next To'C, we can just add a disclaimer.
