Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

What series do you expect to be cancelled next if any of them do?

If Guardian goes low again next week I can see it being cancelled because it got ranked dead last pretty early compared to Yozakura(I don't think the early chapters got ranked dead last right, and I have a feeling this will survive) and Agravity(Pretty sure this one won't get axed this time around, since jump seems to have hope for it with that twitter page).
Guardian should be next on the chopping block, yeah, unless suddenly something big changes with the series. But it might escape cancellation for a bit due to TPN probably ending very soon.

After Guardian... probably Mitama? Dunno. Feels fluctuating behind GotW.

How soon are we talking for TPN ending? Enough to be the third thing ending this round?

Guardian's the clear next cancellation at this point since I can't see it suddenly improving, but past that it's hard to say.

Agravity Boys has performed the worst of the rest of the series (being the only one to be bottom 5 every issue) but there's signs it could grow, and Yozakura frequents the bottom 3 but also bounces up and gets decent placements too. Then there's Mitama which has the lowest sales but still seems to be getting safe placements each issue.

Honestly I could see everything except Guardian surviving until Autumn, at which point it should be obvious which series will get the axe (the new series this batch would also be long enough to get cancelled then too).

Neverland, Yuuna, and Kimetsu could all potentially end in the next few months and I can't imagine we'll get two big batches in Summer, I feel like we'll get 4 at most (something like Burn the Witch starts by itself, then a batch of 3 new series when it ends).

The logo is 10/10.
Yeah, no... That logo is terrible.
The most egregious sin by far is that the title doesn't cover the right side of the cover despite Fujimoto designing his cover art with the assumption that the top and right sides will have text, which heavily features in his thumbnailing and composition.

The logo also would destroy the vibe of covers like this. Also note the composition and how much it relies on the negative space created by the text.

Think it's worth noting that once Time Paradox Ghost Writer drops we'll have already gotten 8 new series this year out of the usual 11, there should only be one more batch this year and it could be a while, considering the mainstays that are leaving this year, axing some of the noobs might mean leaving a space empty in the magazine (which could still happen and not be surprising).

Between Neverland, Demon Slayer, and Yuuna, I think Neverland is the only one that could realistically end in one about 2 chapters. Not necessarily saying I think it WILL do that, but there’s not really much left for the series to really do.

I was wondering how many series will actually need to be cancelled this year, so I figured I'd do a quick analysis.

We've had 7 new series so far in the 2020 WSJ issues and will get one more this batch, and the most WSJ has had in a year over the past 2 decades is 14. This year could break the trend and go higher of course but if we get 14 new series total (it does feel like it'll be a high number year), that means 7 more series will need to end at most (including one more this batch).

We have 3 long-running series that seem likely to end this year which are Neverland, Yuuna, and Kimetsu no Yaiba (WNL will end in December if it does a full volume per girl which is 2021 for WSJ, and Haikyuu at its current pacing will last about that long too). 7 series ending - 3 long runners ending = 4 new series need to be cancelled.

Burn The Witch will be a mini-series which are 1 volume in WSJ, so it should also end in 2020 and be replaced by a different new series. 4 endings - burn the witch ending = 3 new series need to be cancelled this year. Maybe 4 new series if HxH returns and continues into 2021 before going on hiatus again.

That's true, we're not even in half of 2020 and Jump will be already with 8 new series released, that's a lot of new stuff in such short time, unless they really go up with the amount of series we have technically only 3 new series to be released in the next 30+ issues

Basically, if there are 14 new series total this year (which is the most wsj seems to have in a year), probably only 3 of the current newer series will be cancelled. The newer at-risk series that have replaced something already are

Yozakura
Mitama
Agravity Boys
Undead
Mashle
Guardian of the Witch
Moriking
Bone Collection

Most likely 5 of these will last at least until November (or maybe 4 will survive if HxH returns), unless 2020 has their highest number of new series in over 20 years.

In addition, nothing has ended to make space for Ghost Writer yet but it'll also be long enough to be at risk of getting cancelled before 2020 ends.

So... Undead Unluck actually got the highest ranking since Chainsaw Man? With Jujutsu Kaisen before that? Despite the Kimetsu backlog? Because that's really good.

- Noah's Notes 48

- ZIGA 53

- Jimoto ga Japan (I'm From Japan) 110

- Momiji no Kisetsu 136

- Tanaka Seiji 160

- Kimi wo Shinrayku Seyo! 184

2019

Chainsaw Man: 21

Ne0lation: 140

Hell Warden Higuma: 78

The Last Saiyuki: 150

Yui Kamio: 67

Double Taisei: 150

Tokyo Shinobi Squad: 86

- (Kimetsu backlog) -

Yeah, gotta agree with some others here. I think the logo looks really childish. Its weird that they can't just take the original look of the font, and just do it in English. Maybe it's the marketing team who decides? Even still, would prefer what the French publisher did instead:

The french publisher's cover does maintain Chainsaw Man's essence with the logo and its font

That's a perfect adaptation of the original logo, it makes the english even more childish now

Tbh, Viz has never nailed with their logos. I prefer the French ones, they keep the essence, at least.

In this week "Jump Animation Information Base" of Issue #20, Black Clover got a big 3 pages preview for the next 4 episodes with the start of the new arc that will show the 6 months training that wasn't shown in the manga:

Here's a comparison from vol 6

Why are French covers always better than Viz's? What are they doing right? Hiring actually talented graphic designers and decision-makers who are passionate about the manga they are publishing? The difference is too stark.
