Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I don't know if you can put Mashle as a gag too.
Unlike Agravity boys and Mitama who have closed chapters.
Mashle has a more continuous story, things are not resolved in the first chapter.
Moriking, we don't know how he will behave, if he will have more closed chapters or if he will have a continuous story.
Mashle is a gag. Beelzebub / Gintama all have serious arcs and moments but they were widely known for being solid comedy series. Mashle falls under the same category.

All three of the noobs should rank for a second week at least, that’s nice to see, even if I wish their numbers were higher.

Do you think we are getting updates regarding the employee who got sick and Shueshia's current situation, if it's under control or have detected more cases?

Regarding Chainsawman's latest chapter, sometimes I wonder if people who have no clue what's going on are just skimming the chapters. It's kind of tiring to see people go "wtf is happening" or "I don't understand what's going on" every week when the chapters are pretty straightforward unlike in Fire Punch where Fujimoto was actually trying to mindfuck the readers.
You forget that alot of the audience are still your stereotypical shonen fanatics :teehee

4 gag manga is a pretty normal number for this magazine, remember for a few years last decade we had Kochikame, Gintama, Saiki, and Isobee all running together. If you go back a little earlier, you had Sket Dance and Inumarudashii alongside KochiKame and Gintama, and before that you had Kochikame, Jaguar, Bobobo, and Mr Fullswing running together. Four gag manga at the same time is normal for WSJ.

Generally at any given time we have 2 pure gag (Kochikame & Jaguar/Inumarudashii/Saiki), one gag-action (Bobobo, Gintama), and one other mixed genre (Mr Fullswing is gag/sports, Sket Dance is gag/drama). Or maybe 3 pure gag and 1 gag-action.

Currently we've got 2 pure gag (Mitama, Moriking), one gag-action (Mashle), and other other mixed genre (Agravity Boys as gag/sc-fi adventure). All 4 sticking around wouldn't be too weird for the magazine. Though maybe Moriking will start fighting, who knows.

It only seems like a lot since the pure gag stuff never got translated much, so people ignored them in the ToC (and of course since we'd had periods of no gag manga recently after all the long running ones ended close together).
Yeh, gag manga was the heart of WSJ. It was totally normal to have, from the weirdest gags you had was one of the most successful within the country

Mori King first chapter was just there
it didn't do anything for me, i didn't laugh and i didn't find anything interesting in it

and overall nothing especially interesting happened in all the magazine this week

on Jump Plus side of things I really enjoyed Part 2 of Vertical World writer x Ziga artist collab oneshot
hoping they collab on a full series next

Moriking's first chapter was... serviceable, I guess.

I can already tell it's not the kind of series I'll become attached to, though.

Shoseki Daily Rankings for April 9 and April 10 are up:

RANKINGS (APRIL 9 AND 10)
One Piece Vol. 96: #2 - #2
Black Clover Vol. 24: #26 - #27
Dr. Stone Vol. 15: #30 - #29
We Never Learn Vol. 16: #41 - #44
Yuuna-san Vol. 21: #60 - #68
Undead Unluck Vol. 1: #254 - #375
Yozakura Family Vol. 2: #260 - #368
Agravity Boys Vol. 1: #261 - #390
Zipman!! Vol. 1 didn't rank in either day.
Shoseki Daily Ranking - 4/11

#2 One Piece 96
#26 Black Clover 24
#33 Dr. Stone 15
#54 We Never Learn 16
#89 Yuuna and the Haunted Hotsprings 21
#349 Mission: Yozakura Family 2
#455 Undead Unluck 1
#470 Agravity Boys 1
For comparison, the 9 days of sales for both Yozakura volumes:

Yozakura vol.1: 40 > 60 > 69 > 114 > 125 > 140 > 251 > 220 > 494

Yozakura vol.2: 47 > 63 > 145 > 57 > 109 > 214 > 260 > 369 > 349

Vol 1 still got more 2 days in the Shoseki after this before disappearing, it's a bit hard to make much conclusions because all newbies are fluctuating a lot this month but Yozakura is for sure keeping the same level at least.

We are in a pandemic scenario, it is totally different from the usual, even veteran jump manga are having problems.
Perhaps in a normal scenario, Undead unluck, Yozakura and Agravity would have better sales.

The logo is 10/10.
Looks goofy, but it kinda fits the asthetic of the series in a strange way.
Also did they resuse the spine design from Fire Punch?

Like that logo a lot, I've dropped off hard on buying volumes since they put the vault up but I'm definitely gonna have to pick up Act-age and CSM in print.

What series do you expect to be cancelled next if any of them do?

If Guardian goes low again next week I can see it being cancelled because it got ranked dead last pretty early compared to Yozakura(I don't think the early chapters got ranked dead last right, and I have a feeling this will survive) and Agravity(Pretty sure this one won't get axed this time around, since jump seems to have hope for it with that twitter page).
