Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Both of those aired and ended before the streaming boom that started a couple of years ago. Toriko is also a Toei property so u have no idea why you're mentioning it.

To give you a perspective of how overseas streaming has improved the business for TV Tokyo, you should read their last year fiscal report.

In 2010, TV Tokyo's animation business made 6 billion yen while in 2019 they made 21 billion yen. 13 billion yen just from overseas business.

Do you understand why even thinking of cancellation would go against the interests of the companies involved in the series?

Use of a generalized number to equate to something being important. Similar to use of the generalized 50% digital manga market or heck even the 30% shueisha percentage to equate to a series in WSJ doing well digitally.
Alright.

1. What is the percentage of BC from that 13 billion yen or fuck it, 21 billion yen?
2. What is the % of revenue from streaming market? Is it 10% of that? 20%? 40%?
3. Are we just assuming all 5 franchises in that list are equal in the revenue they've earned for TV TOKYO?
4. Are we not assuming Naruto and by extension Boruto would be significantly eating up the majority of that revenue?
5. Irrespective of which studio it was, Toriko's anime was cancelled despite getting amazing TV ratings and helping sell tons of merchandise.
It's an example of a WSJ series that had it's anime end in the last decade when streaming was a thing albeit not nearly as big as today. Both are by studios that prefer long running anime as well. Why does it being a different studio make the comparison irrelevant?

Hina Change has uploaded its Chapter 22 to MANGA Plus but completely empty one week before its release date. Nothing is displayed, but the series doesn't either show any next update date or whatever, so I'm guessing Chapter 22 is the final one that fills Volume 3 and the series has ended. It should actually end next week, but pepega MANGA Plus.

It really is amazing what a manga can do.
He is already the third author to mention that Demon Slayer has increased readership. Gege Akitami, Oda and Yusuke Murata.

Hopefully this helps the new manga and new authors.
Have we seen anything yet (manga or anime) that attempts to take elements from KNY after it got super popular? Like, we got a lot of series try to go the darker, gritty route when Attack on Titan became super popular. We even had an anime that was very clearly inspired by it.

But I guess, with KNY, it'll take time to see such influences especially because of COVID19

Doesn't seems strange the treatment that WSJ gives to JJK, Chainsaw Man and AA in the TOC's? Especially the later two. They are probably the three series closest to become pillars in the future, you would expect Jump to push them harder.

Have we learned if TV Tokyo is still involved or if the Aniplex rumors were true? I haven't really been paying attention to Bleach but if it is Aniplex not only would TV Tokyo not see anything anyway but with how Sony seems to be moving forward with Aniplex/Funimation/Anime Lab/Wakanim it would be fairly limited in who would be bidding for the show rather than just getting it because they're owned by Sony.
Aniplex rumor was apparently fake. Pierrot still holds the rights because Klab renewed the license for Bleach Brave souls and signed a partnership deal with them.

Klab would have to go to Aniplex if the rumors were true.

You're being intentionally ignorant now which is unbecoming of you. Did you read the reports? They pretty much acknowledge only Naruto, Boruto and Black Clover out of the top 5 for having strong overseas presence AND being profitable. The fact that BC got an extension for three year straight (fourth if covid never happened) without the support of strong merch and video game sales to back it up makes it reasonable to assume the anime is doing a great job.

1. TV Tokyo acknowledges only Naruto, Boruto and Black Clover for their overseas presence so your guess is as good as mine but let's not forget the production committee for the anime has Pierrot as well. Their sales were 10.8 billion yen last year so god knows how much of it was because BC.
2. Overseas business includes licensing shows to not only streaming companies but to others responsible for making merchandise or games. I genuinely doubt BC was in the top 5 profitable anime for TV Tokyo because of merchandise or games.
3. No, they're for all their anime but the top 5 are the biggest earners. For overseas section only three of the top 5 were acknowledged.
4. It's pretty much given that Naruto and Boruto are responsible for a bigger chunk of the 15 billion sales (Not 13 billion. My bad)since they are higher in sales and gross profit rankings. That doesn't change the fact that Black Clover contributed to the growth of both the revenue and gross profit.
5. Again. The way Toei operates is different than your normal studios. World Trigger wasn't exactly having great ratings and the slot it aired in ended after the anime but now here we are with an upcoming sequel.

The spring issue of GIGA is filled with demon slaying oneshots, so yeah, I guess so. Sunday also just launched a demon slaying manga set in the meiji era (the one right before kimetsu's setting).

I think you're only seeing it from a single point.
Gotouge can inspire other authors without them having a theme in their manga similar to that of Demon Slayer.
For example. On a personal level there are artists, broadcasters and writers who inspire me, but I am not equal to them nor do I have their work. But their way of being and what they do does influence my life to a certain extent.

At least, that's the way I see it. :xp

I'm surprised to see Bleach in 5th position, was it rebroadcast ?
If I were to guess it was probably the mobile game, which is really popular, or perhaps the foreign blu-ray sales. Viz has been steadily releasing box sets of it, and I was under the impression that the sales of these long running battle anime adaptations were better outside of Japan than inside it, but I could be wrong.

No no, I know and I agree.
It's just usually when something explodes with popularity, you'll see some new things try to quickly copy or are heavily inspired from it in an attempt to get a shot at that audience.

Was just curious.

I have to say, out of all the ToCs we've been getting for a while now, Mashle's run is what has impressed me the most. It's miles ahead of the other newbies, which have all dropped to the bottom during their early runs (except, well, Samurai 8 but we know the story) while Mashle hasn't dropped there a single time and has spent a lot of weeks in the top 10. Even Chainsaw Man dropped to the bottom and only started to rank better after 20 chapters (though it got a CP in between, but that was on chapter 15 and Mashle got one on chapter 12). Makes me even more curious about volume 1's release.

I mean, GoTW with that whole “I want to protect you and turn you back into a normal human” kinda gave me a KNYish vibe tbh

I fully understand your point.

Not long ago I commented something similar about One Piece. It is curious not to see other manga that follow the same theme of the best-selling manga in history. Although I think they do well, because there would be comparisons and the new sleeves would always go to waste. Something like happened with Black Clover. That I've never seen such a big bullying done to a manga, even before leaving, like the one they did to Black Clover.

Mashle is really the big surprise as now with the newbies, looking before the first chapter came out, it really looked like something that could be in the axe zone and in the first chapters, I still have my doubts on the series because it felt so-so imo. But the last 3-4 chapters have been a blast to read through, and the last one just confirmed it as one of my favs new series running, with Mitama as my fav one.

I truly hope it keeps being this constantly good and hope the best for the sales of v1

I think this manga fits that description best
