Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

And to think that the results will be massive...
Road to 2M for the novels
Just to give an idea of how insane this is, A Certain Magical Index (which is basically the OP of the LN industry) has 31 Million on 47 volumes. Haruhi Suzumiya (which is a legend) is 20 Million.

...That's a higher first print than any series on the lineup not named KNY or OP. For a novel. Okay.

semantics

Haikyuu highest known is 780k

also if you count HxH 1.6M
I meant current first print rather than peak (and not counting HxH because "current lineup" lol), but yeah, that works as well.

Anyone else having problems with the poll in the Jump app? I can fill in my answers, but for some reason can't press the "submit" button.

There are some questions where you have to give answers (there is one where you have to choose 3 options or somet check if you've done that

Off topic: From your profile, I can see your a fan of run with the wind. Prince's running form still cracks me up

Lol am I the only one who thinks the character in the little manga looks really cool. Otherwise art looks great but will keep my hopes at bay until the 3rd chapter.

Also can’t wait for the JJK anime news, it’s honestly been ages since the announcement.

And KNY, what can i say, my favourite ongoing series has ended 😭 real anime tears

I've got zero problems with BC. If anything, I wish it grew in sales because it means Tabata gets more income. I've said this before numerous times.

I have a problem with people thinking it's just permanently safe because it's anime does alright. That's just extremely misleading when its average TOC placements and sales have been dropping.
may be true but its kinda tiring seeing it very often coming here

I’m imagine we’re going to be getting a ton of Kimetsu novels and spin-offs over the next few years. And honestly, I can see Ufotable adapting all of the novels and spin-offs into short anime seasons or films after they’re finish adapting the entire manga.

I don’t see a “sequel” happening. But I think we’re still gonna be seeing a lot of Demon Slayer for nearly the entirety of the 2020s despite it ending

You'd think a space adventure series would be inspired by something space-related.

But I guess it turns out, in the end, genuinely the only reason they were in space really was just to make the characters stronger than in Naruto. He could have set it actually on the scale of an amoeba and it would've made zero difference to the plot, since it never used the huge scale for anything that mattered beyond showing how strong the villains were.
shouldve took inspiration of eden zero, :hurr

WT had real stretch problems. There was a scene where two guys were yelling at each other for like 2 minutes and you were just sitting there as a watcher wondering how long it takes to fall 10 meter. It was so bad it became hilarious again.
which moment was that again?

Time Paradox Ghost Writer’s art is damn good, holy hell. Can’t wait for it to be translated, the first chapter looks incredibly good

Did anyone post this?

And also from an animator that's working on the DQ anime.

So we're pretty much getting (or have gotten) anime news regarding JJK/WT/DQ this month, nice.
a remake?

Don't WSJ usually pair inexperienced editors with experienced creators? And vice versa.

You can't blame his editor too much if that was the case, any newbie editor will probably hold a lot of respect for Kishi as a 15+ year senior. They'd probably trust Kishi knows what he's doing since he'd have a lot more experience in the industry and should have a better grasp on what people like, even if they personally don't think it works.

Kishi should've known better than to start Samurai 8 like he did, but a new editor paired with him to get experience might not.
i still blame him for higumas fate :noworry

Hmm...

Not sure if this would fit the rules, but I wanted to ask what non-WSJ series you think would make the best fit in the Jump magazine. As in, not only surviving there, but thriving here as well.
fire force for sure, maybe spy family if the author could keep up with the weekly schedule

My next batch prediction:

TITLES LEAVING THE MAGAZINE
-The Promised Neverland
-Guardian of the Witch (axe)
-Yuuna-san (?) (if Yuuna still continues, then I'm saying Yozakura or Mitama).

TITLES COMING IN NEXT BATCH
-Burn the Witch
-A spokon (it has been +1 year since last spokon aka Beast Children. And Haikyuu is ending in Fall or in 2021)
-An action manga by a newbie (hopefully they serialize that viking oneshot from last year).

I wonder what the sport in question will be? Normally I'd want a basketball one but I think we've had enough of those. Also, what was the viking oneshot called again?

I want to see an E-Sports manga in Jump. Tired of these regular sports. Might not be the most popular thing in Japan since I hear they are mostly console gamers, but it can work since it's just a team, but on a computer instead of a field or court. It can also serve as an introduction to something completely new for the Japanese audience. It can be entertaining plus educational at the same time. Just make all the guys hot and it'll be the next million seller.
