Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Seems like the fourth novel will be about Sanemi. "Kaze no michibe".
Sanemi novel? That’s cool, with Rengoku Gaiden we got lot to look forward too

Uzui Gaiden/Novel when tho?! :emocat
I’m imagine we’re going to be getting a ton of Kimetsu novels and spin-offs over the next few years. And honestly, I can see Ufotable adapting all of the novels and spin-offs into short anime seasons or films after they’re finish adapting the entire manga.

I don’t see a “sequel” happening. But I think we’re still gonna be seeing a lot of Demon Slayer for nearly the entirety of the 2020s despite it ending
This makes me wonder how ufo will handle the series after Mugen Train, the final arc to be more specific.

Like the next 2, or even 3, arcs after Mugen can perfectly fit in another 2 cour season, right. Right before Muzan meets Oyakata-sama

The final arc tho will it be its own season as well, or maybe they'll go the movie route again with it, obviously with it being the longest arc one won’t be enough so maybe they’ll go the Heaven’s Feel route and make a trilogy? Not to mention they potentially adapting the novels

My next batch prediction:

TITLES LEAVING THE MAGAZINE
-The Promised Neverland
-Guardian of the Witch (axe)
-Yuuna-san (?) (if Yuuna still continues, then I'm saying Yozakura or Mitama).

TITLES COMING IN NEXT BATCH
-Burn the Witch
-A spokon (it has been +1 year since last spokon aka Beast Children. And Haikyuu is ending in Fall or in 2021)
-An action manga by a newbie (hopefully they serialize that viking oneshot from last year).
Burn the Witch is a mini-series Mankichi.

Also, that one-shot you mentioned didn't have a great reception in Japan from what I can find, so I dunno how likely that would be.

I want to see an E-Sports manga in Jump. Tired of these regular sports. Might not be the most popular thing in Japan since I hear they are mostly console gamers, but it can work since it's just a team, but on a computer instead of a field or court. It can also serve as an introduction to something completely new for the Japanese audience. It can be entertaining plus educational at the same time. Just make all the guys hot and it'll be the next million seller.
If it be a fighting game it could work easily, given the FGC and Umehara. The only trick would be needing to, you know, actually get a writer who understand how such games work.

Japan has some (arcane) anti gambling laws which e sport is affected by because it is under "gaming for money". I'm pretty sure they are trying to remove/change/phase them out or create workarounds to them. Shinso Abe is up for e sport being a major thing at least so it is possible e sport manga will be a thing

A mini-series that still gets one spot like the Dr.Stone spinoff or The Comiq did in the past.

I really don't see the point of an e-sports manga. Regular sports are something that can only exist in that context for the most part, but most e-sports manga will just end up showing the game as battle shounen fights. And at that point they might as well just cut out the computers make it an actual battle shounen where they're fighting for real.

The characters are playing a shooter/fighting game/etc? Why not just have the characters actually go in and fight themselves, like World Trigger's B-rank wars, instead of having to cut away to guys intensely clicking a keyboard which would only reduce the tension and stakes? Making it real or through fake bodies like World Trigger also allows you to have proper serious arcs outside of the tournament too to add some variety.

It's the same with card battle series, sure you could have a card battle anime that's just people sitting at a table playing cards, but it's way more fun to watch the cards actually summon monsters to fight each other, and that way you can add more stakes to it as well. If you're going to make up a new sport for a manga, make up something exciting and active.

I would love a Soccer manga in Jump mainly because I've never read a good soccer manga, also I'm from Brazil too kkk

I haven't read that Viking One-Shot, but I think that Fujimaki One Shot about that Samurai deserves a chance. It has some Gintama vibes

It would be like watching a DnD series where at random points each episode, it cuts away to a bunch of guys sitting around a table eating snacks. That works fine for comedy, but if you want a tense, exciting action series, it's a lot more accessible to get rid of the real people and make it a proper fantasy adventure.

I wonder if for a volume bonus or something, those three could draw artwork of Yaiba characters they liked. I’d love to see that.
Excuse me, only now did I notice you called me. With several reactions to the post I put on the authors' thanks to Wani, I couldn't see your post.

I completely agree. It is very nice when you see authors drawing characters that are from other authors. It is without a doubt a sign of respect for his work and a great tribute.

I think any mangaka who finishes a job deserves that kind of detail.

@animeexpert The moment where Yoneya dropped onto the Neighbor Warrior and had multiple shields up due his comrades to withstand the bulletstorm coming from below. And they were just "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" "OOOOO" "AAAAAAAA" "OOOO" "AAAA" "OO" "AA" "O" "A", like it was stupid to watch with the same two frames for nearly two minutes. XDDD

That makes 3 novels just this year, 5 total. Lol, jesus.
You gotta beat the iron while it is still hype. XD

Speaking of first prints, anyone know what JoJo's highest was?

Heh, Honda's little avatar.

Lol, Honda got style. O0

A VR E-sport manga ala WT: The B-rank Tournament would be something I'd like to read. Especially if like in WT we get to see lots of "SoL" moments, like the agents playing video games or playing Mahjong or going out for a drink or meeting up for BBQ or being shown jogging or cooking, it adds a lot of "realness" if you see Elite Soldiers relaxing with manga on the couch while munching chips or ditching cooking because "it is a chore" and inviting the to be cooked for to a restaurant instead.
Plus with the VR aspect you could showcase many different games like you could have the MC and his friends play Basektball, do Snowboarding, Fantasy RPG and so on, you could have a lot of variety in the series especially if you make it so that everyone of the MC and his friends group got different VR games they are good at, like say someone likes playing Minigolf but gravity is off and the parcour is full with crazy traps and shortcuts and the like or someone is good at a strategy game where you are a god and watch your people from the clouds directing them with "stick and carrot" tactics to do what you what them to do. Ofc they need a constant game which all of them like so a team battle game would make sense for that and that could reach from a shooting game like Call of Duty, Rainbow Six etc to MOBAs like Dota or LoL. Make it a ranked game where you can reach nationals and internationals and you got a set goal for the team into the future as well.

Didn't know that there's such a law. Still can find a workaround for it. There's a few manga out there already, such as E no Genten one shot. Not exactly what I'm looking for, but it's still E-Sports.

Fair points. I'm not saying it has to be computers and guys sitting at a desk. It could be VR or something else. Your second paragraph is actually similar to how I imagine it. They could focus on the world/arena/map in the game and have the players replaced with the in-game characters/heroes/whatever they call them and show the strategic team battles from that PoV with maybe minor cuts to IRL to show struggles/reactions(or just have the in-game chars emote IDC). Haven't read much WT so I dunno about the comparison, so I can't comment much about it. It can be a mix of SoL with the E-Sports being battles between schools like you would see in a regular Shonen Sports manga. With good writing and execution it can definitely work and not be boring since tons of people watch E-Sports like League on Twitch or whatever site and find it exciting. The writer will just have to figure out what the best method is.

Oh I fully expect to see the franchise consistently being milked until at least the main anime ends which could be 2-3 years from now.
Nothing wrong with it. As your product, you gotta milk it.

But not surpising. Kishimoto pretty much wrote an entire autobiography in the extra pages of the Naruto volumes and he brought up Akira, both the manga and the film, so many times, always gushing about them, and even saying it was what made him want to become a mangaka (along with Dragon Ball). Although if I remember correctly he acknowledged that it only influenced his art in the end. I guess not anymore.
Speaking of those Volume Extra pages, maybe jump should let Kishimoto do his Harry Potter inspired work :3c

Bold of you to think that there's a chance that they're not milking the fuck outta Demon Slayer for the rest of the decade. xD

Well, Japan love fighting game, I guess. And high score girl is a thing. But yeah, it's more about coming of age and romance with video game theme rather than a sport manga.

Of course. There's gotta be at least one person in Japan with interest in this topic who could do additional research and create a series out of it.
High score girl is a great manga about retro game in general and fighting game in specific. And the mangaka is really dedicated with video game. I have no doubt a manga about video game made by enthusiasts can work.

Dude, I read a MtG manga by the guy behind dancing midget and shudan and fucking dig it. And I don't even know how to play MtG. Card game manga can work.
Wait, wasn't Yugioh from WSJ and also a huge massive hit?
Yeah, you are right, card game manga drools and will never work in Jump.

Monthly Shonen Sunday also has a manga about playing board games that did well enough to get an anime (https://myanimelist.net/manga/69035/Houkago_Saikoro_Club) although it's more episodic but I don't think stuff like video/board/card games would be too boring in the right hands.

Hell, while it's usually virtual reality and comes from light novels there's a ton of stories essentially following characters playing competitive video games. Bofuri and Infinite Dendrogram that had anime last season are exactly that and of course SAO.

To tie this back to Jump I don't see why an e-sports manga would break hype. If the characters are playing something like Fortnite we don't need a new cast of 99 characters every time there's a new game (and it could be a death game without being edgy I guess lol). If they're playing something like Street Fighter there can be super tough battles without a character having to be stuck in the hospital when they lose (or win depending on how close it was). Hell, something like CoD we can have revenge stories unfold within the same match since people will respawn. You can still explore the character's psyche. I doubt the manga would just suddenly pan to a character mashing a keyboard or controller without giving any kind of internal dialogue or facial expression to give emotion which already happens in spokans anyway.
