Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

On top of that it’s very rare that you get someone like Oda who has a solid idea of how everything will end earlier on.
Though then again, you have someone like Kubo, who has a solid idea for the ending for more than a decade and works through all his health issues to reach that ending - and then it's still... divisive, at best ^^

It's still weird though. I understand the problem when a series gets axed suddenly, but these long-time authors usually have plenty of time to think about how they want to wrap things up.
Didn't Horikoshi mention the new MHA movie uses elements he planned for the ending? I doubt Oda planned for One Piece to be nearly as long as it is either. Stuff probably changes while they write. New ideas contradict how the ending would work so they need to rework plans

And do you think that HxH can get a satisfactory ending after so many hiatuses?

The real question we should be asking is that will the manga actually continue

It's an exorcist/detective series. They investigate supernatural incidents caused by ghosts escaping from ghost prison.

Many (and I really mean many) Jump and Jump+ artists drew celebratory illustrations for Ao no Exorcist's 10th birthday. If anyone's interested.

Jesus, look at the difference, seems like every Oda tribute drawing its a cursed image kkkk and this illustration by Kishimoto is cool af, i really miss his art...

It had fan service but it is honestly just as bad as other shonen battle manga, way to tame to be considered ecchi.

For me personally my favorite shonen jump ending this past decade was definitely assassination classroom. With a lot of jump series (not all of course but still a lot imo) the endings are mediocre at best. However asassination classroom I couldn’t think of a better ending. It was extremely emotional and satisfying and that is the ending I feel a lot of shonen jump series should strive for.
I think years of making the series drains them by the time they reach the end.
And even if you go into the series knowing what you want to do isn’t he end, it’s really hard to manage how long it’ll take to get there, and organizing things.
An arc that you though would take 15 chapters may end up being 40 chapters. Something you though would be 50 chapters may only end up being 30 chapters.

Of series this decade Kimetsu no Yaiba and Ass Class both had really good and fitting endings. WNL should be great too as long as it does actually give each girl their own volume. Zumou's was fine too, nothing amazing but certainly not bad either.

I'd say we're about 50/50 on good to bad endings. recently.
Kimetsu last chapter was meh it feels like a bonus chapter in a last volume

For the current arc? I think so. Past that? I'd be very surprised if it did.

Unless things have drastically changed, yes.
Glad to see one from him. I'm guessing part of his comment is about their time working together?

Some important stuff I guess

The guide did not list the gender demographics for its Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, but did list a breakdown by age. 27.4% of readers are 25 years old or older, 25.8% are 19-24 years old, 17.6% are 16-18 years old, 16.4% are 13-15 years old, 9.6% are 10-12 years old, and 3.2% are nine years old or younger.

Additionally, the guide announced that the Shonen Jump+ website and app has about 2.4 million weekly active users. The app has been downloaded more than 13 million times as of January.

It's funny to me to think that you still sometimes see people insisting that Death Note is actually seinen because they can't accept it's aimed at kids and teens, but Black Clover technically has a more mature demographic than it.

What shock me is that OPM, a legit comedy is seinen and AOT shonen. 😅

Weird that they didn't even ask Kubo or Togashi to draw one.

How do you know they weren't asked?
Because i suppose if they were asked they wouldnt say "Ao no Exorcist 10th anniversary? nah, i don't want to make a quick draw for it", it would be quite rude to Kato Kazue.

I'm curious how many of the featured artist have never done anything in Jump SQ.

Kishimoto's Mario oneshot was in Jump SQ I think so he technically counts as a Jump SQ artist, but I don't think Oda ever had something there? I know WSJ, SQ, and Jump+ are a big family trio but it makes me wonder anyway.
