For anyone interested, Moriking first ranking in 3rd place is the best first ranking since Hinomaru Zumou in 1st place on 2013, and yeah, i just checked each series since that, i didn't counted Naruto Gaiden in 2015 that got 2nd place because it was a 10 chapters short series.

Do you think that Moriking got such a high placement because it got a lot of positive feedback or because it had a special kind of feedback aka a lot of young readers WSJ don't hear that much from other series, either because they are too gory or ecchi or whatever?

No, it dodged that bullet. Which should make for some funny meme in /a/ if someone gets to use GotW as a "successful" manga who managed to at least avoid U19 while Zipman goes FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU~ at the injustice. Same with all the other cancelled series who got done in at ch.12-18. XD

Glad to see Moriking this high despite preferring Mashle, it's a fun series. As mentioned, I want to see how Bone Collection will perform next week. But it's TPG that I'm really interested to see the first rated ranking.

I wonder if Manga+ is going to pick up a few proven Jump+ series (like 'Tis Time for Torture and Vertical World) or if they'll just go with newer series. I'm not one to normally care about "slots" or whatever but they haven't picked any up in the last 7 months and have lost 5 (although Blue Flag was only monthly).

If I'm counting right they currently have 9 running (Spy, 'Tis Time for Torture, Jigokuraku, Summertime, Heart Gear, Sa-chan, Abyss Rage, Vertical World, Moon Land, [also Technically Soloist in a Cage which has been on hiatus since March 2019 so I'm not counting it]) so I don't think they desperately need to pick up new stuff but it still would be nice.

They did that poll on phones recently so they're definitely considering picking up more Jump+ manga.

I'm sure we'll get some series, we just need to wait and see what they go for.

Very unlikely. The first season adapted 37 chapters in 12 episodes. So at the same pace, it would need 47 episodes to cover the 144 remaining chapters.

I really hope they do. M+ used to have 2-3 new chapters almost every day.

Now it's down to less than 5 chapters a week (excluding Sunday).

Eh, it's about as likely as ufotable pulling a TG:re with the rest of KnY. We can see by the several projects coming up for TPN, that Shueisha still sees value in the franchise for a while. I'd imagine that the production committee on the anime would also like to get in on it for a little longer (while the first season didn't necessarily do well in BD sales, it did give the series a lot of longevity).
