Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Think Slam Dunk still hold the record for fastest series to reach 100M (6 years?), or One Piece (7 years 1997-2005), don't have concrete fact on Slam Dunk but the year 2005 was provided by Shuiesha

Now i know Kimetsu did all of this under a year and a half, but on paper it will be the fastest series to reach 100M in 4 years

The only records that One Piece is holding onto right now is the best-selling manga, biggest first print and biggest first week. Kimetsu no Yaiba still has a chance to beat two of these.
Technically, it also has biggest second week and third week
When you want to save face.
Volume 20 has only sold 2,924,198 as of June 14th. There are two weeks left before the week volume 21 releases. It won't be that much higher than 3.1m at that point, so no reason to print more
What's weird is how high the OP first print are, not how low the DS ones are

I have always wondered why do they keep printing 3.2-3 milion when one piece sells 2 - 1.8 milion after 4 weeks, maybe they rely on the sales after the initial 4 weeks?

I think we all discussed this in the past. The stock eventually sells through, even if it takes years.

It's probably just them thinking long-term.

If they are planning a full reprint 2 days after the volume releases they obviously know 3 million is not an adequate first print for volume 21.

Also a reminder: Kimetsu no Yaiba now has a bigger circulation number than Hunter x Hunter.
And becomes the 9th/10th series (tied with Captain Tsubasa) with the highest circulation number in all of Jump. Hunter x Hunter is now out of the Top 10.

Kimetsu no Yaiba's circulation number timeline.

Literally fucking exponential.

Japan, please. Other manga deserve Oricon numbers. Don't take even more spots from them. xD Lower tier series like Chainsaw Man would've been guaranteed an Oricon spot, but Kimetsu's hogging 20 of them.

What was the biggest first print and biggest first week?

Glad to see Undead reach 20k, and Yozakura should too by the end of the month. Mashle should hit 30k too, continues to impress me.

Kimetsu no Yaiba's circulation number timeline.

Good grief, how the fuck did we jump from 25M to 40M in the span of two months? Mindboggling.

Kimetsu no Yaiba's circulation number timeline.

The two numbers I'd like to take note of here:
July 2019-8 Million
June 2020-80 Million

Honestly at this rate KnY should get its own ranking list so that we can have a "normal" list of manga sales and don't have to -20 it all the time to get an accurate reading of how well other mangas would rank/place without KnY going ham with their sales for months and years to come. XD
